Rebirth of His Omega is a 38k word novella featuring a lion with a fear of fire and the phoenix who has loved him for many lifetimes. It is the fourth book in the Outcast Chronicles, and it is recommended to read them in order for maximum enjoyment. This book contains mpreg, knotting, and too many kids for our lion to handle. Trigger warning for past infertility.
My Review: The story continues with the phoenix and Ryan the lion who loves to cook for the pack. At first, no one was sure what happened to the Phoenix after the dragon burnt the ancients and releases Wamp, the coyote shifter who caused so much destruction. The Phoenix returns to his senses with jumbled fragmented pictures. Putting those pictures together creates a really morbid consciousness for him. The Phoenix is a true Ancient and he has been reborn countless amount of times. He has lived many lifetimes, but he is shattered by what he has allowed himself to become through loneliness and the lies of a demented man. The man Wamp who he looked to as his master has used him to cause unspeakable destruction. Once his consciousness is fused together, the Phoenix is reconciling to all the damage he has done.
This is how Ryan finds him and his lion pounces. Ryan would love nothing more than to destroy the vulnerable looking man he sees before him. However, there is an unexplained tether that draws them together. Before he knows what’s happening, he’s balls deep in the Phoenix who already recognizes Ryan as his fated mate, a man who he’s known as his, throughout his many lifetimes. Ryan is surrounded by this fog of lust and comes to when they are rudely interrupted by Ryan’s pack alpha Asher. It is disconcerting for Ryan to see his mating mark on their enemy the Phoenix. He is disgusted when he thinks he is mated to a monster.
Their mating is certainly a convoluted mess. It is going to take a lot for everyone to see the Phoenix as someone other than the fire demon they have come to see him as. When Casper the seer reveals that the Phoenix is already pregnant with Ryan’s cub, it makes the situation even more difficult. Even though it is not fully sorted out in his mind, Ryan’s lion has already acknowledged the Phoenix as his mate and is ready to treat him as such. As a pack, they have even more responsibilities now that they have freed so many kids from under Wamp’s control. They all have to learn how to work with Phoenix. The burden is on Phoenix to prove that he is no longer a danger to the pack.
Phoenix who has had problems with infertility in his past lives is adamant that he is not pregnant. Ryan believes in what Caspar the seer has seen. As much as Phoenix would love to be connected to Ryan through a child, he just cannot believe that he is pregnant and give himself false hope. The pregnancy causes a barrier for the two of them, because every time Ryan mentions it, Phoenix shuts down. This is a very painful issue for Phoenix and the weight of his sadness is almost crushing. It soon becomes clear that all cannot be forgiven or forgotten. Ben comes face to face for the first time with Phoenix. All Ben sees is the man who killed his former mate in a fire and the kidnapper of his son Liam. Ben tries to attack and Phoenix flees.
There is definitely a dichotomy between Phoenix’s two personas in everyone’s mind, especially Ryan’s. On one hand , he is the Phoenix who brings death and destruction. On the other hand, the person that shines through right now is Phoenix, his vulnerable, saddened mate who is hurting by the circumstances of his nature. Caspar encourages Ryan to give Phoenix some space. Ryan wars with his lion, but he knows he needs to think. It is at this moment that Ryan realizes that he has gotten to know Phoenix’s true nature and he holds no ill-intent towards the pack. Ryan also sees the error of his ways, he tries so hard to push Phoenix away. How can he expect his own pack to embrace Phoenix if he ,Ryan the man has not fully embraced his own mate, only the lion has. He knows now what is in his destiny, to be one with his mate.
It has not been an easy road for these too. They will have to learn to navigate this new lifetime together. There is one thing that is sure, the spark between them will ignite a flame that will certainly burn forevermore. Their problems are far from over, but they will stand as one united front against all the dangers that they will face as a pack. When the kids are kidnapped again by one of their own, many answers are revealed. Ryan dies but is soon reborn by the power of the Phoenix’s tears.Ryan and Phoenix are now immortal.
Another Ancient is awakened, a dragon named Ryeth who uses pack member Simon as a conduit to communicate. Ryeth/ Simon sheds light on the war they will be facing and the true powers of the phoenix. Ryeth plays a big part as he is the only one able to deliver Phoenix’s twins since he is engulfed in flames during the process. Ryan and Phoenix are Both ecstatic to meet their twins Cassia and Michael. I really enjoyed this one and I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.
