Ruined by Evelyn Drake

Title: Ruined            Word Count: 241 pgs

Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:Hungry for a glimpse at the man who destroyed his marriage, Gus Fletcher follows Travis to watch him party and flirt without a care for what he’s done. The man who slept with Gus’s wife is gorgeous and willowy, a model, the utter opposite of Gus’s muscled body and plumbing career. But the man needs help, and something about him tugs at Gus’s heart and mind. What the hell is going on?

The hits keep coming for fashion model Travis Adius, who has to let the right people use him if he’s to stay in the industry… and then some. He only walked away from one man: his abusive ex, who won’t let go that easily. Life has him on his knees until he sees Gus. He wants Gus before he finds out he slept with Gus’s wife… and, somehow, he doesn’t stop wanting him. Gus has hands and nerves of steel, and a deep desire for revenge. Isn’t it wrong to be this turned on by him?

Gus can’t stop thinking about Travis. He should hate him, so why does he want to save him? Travis needs the comfort and safety of a man whose loyalty will stretch to the end of the earth. Is this all just a favor to be repaid? Once they meet, there’s no turning back.

Are Gus and Travis ruined for anyone else?

My Review: Gus would love nothing more than to inflict the same amount of pain on the man who ruined his life. Travis Adius is the man who seduced Gus’ wife into an affair, the man who ruined 15 yrs of marriage. Gus’ wife Scarlett is a career driven fashion designer and Travis is the most beautiful male model that Gus has ever seen. Gus wants so bad to hate Travis , but he understands the pull that Scarlett must have felt towards the youthful Travis. Gus is mesmerized by Travis’ androgynous look and his beauty. Gus has  hunted down Travis  in the hopes of seeking some form of revenge, but that all goes awry when he sees him.

It is while at a party that Travis notices the sexy body builder hulk look -alike staring at him. Travis decides to flirt a little with Gus from afar by seducing another man, hopefully appealing to his voyeuristic nature. Travis’ little experiment starts out really hot, especially when he sees mister sexy is indeed watching. This soon fizzles and he starts feeling embarrassed and horribly used when his hook -up starts calling him derogatory names. Travis has many issues but this is where his vulnerability peeks through. Travis feels like a throw away on most days, but especially after hooking up with someone and have them tell him they have to go home to their girlfriend.

Travis is so embarrassed and is feeling at an all time low , when he gets a picture text from Scarlett telling him that her husband knows about their affair. Travis feels like he has been hit by a ton of bricks, when he sees the face of Mr. Sexy. When he thinks of the hulk and reconciles that image to Gus, Travis starts running like a bat out of hell. He ends up running right into his abusive ex boyfriend Brandon. Travis is paralyzed with fear when he remembered how many times Brandon put him in the hospital. When Brandon advances, Travis tries to stand up for himself , but he only ends up cowering in a corner. It’s Gus who saves the day.

When Gus sees Travis about to be hurt, he steps in and pushes the big bully away. There is just something about Travis that brings out all of Gus’ protective instincts. Gus and Brandon are definitely evenly matched. If anything Gus is bigger than Brandon and he treats him like a rag doll every time he tries to attack Travis. When Brandon flees, Gus takes Travis to a diner to warm up and questions him. Travis is wary of the big guy but he doesn’t have much of a choice.

Little by little, Gus lets go of the hurt and pain he feels. He acknowledges the fact that the marriage between him and Scarlett was broken before this kid came along.Gus decides to fix this fragile somewhat beautiful creature as much as he can. He takes Travis home and changes his locks and decides to stay with him to protect him from Brandon if he comes back.Gus is man enough to admit to himself that he feels a smidge of attraction to Travis even though he doesn’t swing that way.

Before things can heat up between them , Travis has to go away on an assignment. Travis comes home from his modelling gig, only to run into the unexpected. This is when Brandon escalates things even further, by breaking into Travis’ apartment and writing disparaging words on the wall and destroying the living room. Brandon hurts Travis really bad and he knows he is about to die. Once again,  it’s Gus us who finds him and tries to protect his sweet man. Gus knows that he cannot hide his feelings any longer. The two get closer while Travis recovers and Gus practically moves in to protect him. Things get heated between the two and the sexual chemistry is definitely combustible.

Travis is scared and hesitant to be with a real man like Gus , because Gus makes him yearn for things he always dreamed of. Although Gus has never been with a man, he goes with his feelings and treasures Travis in the most special way. Travis finally starts feeling his worth through Gus’ adoration. Scarlett puts a crimp in their plans when she announces that she is pregnant and she is not sure which one is the father. Travis sees his future coming to a halt with Gus and he knows that he is about to be the throwaway guy yet again. However, Gus proves him wrong and comes up with a solution that shows him how invested he is in their relationship.

Gus suggests that they could co-parent their child with some involvement from Scarlett. Travis and Gus are ecstatic that they can share this beautiful experience and it is great to see the amicable relationship between these three adults. I think Gus has the most forgiving heart that there is and he was rewarded with the greatest love. Travis the man who always saw himself as expendable has finally become someone’s everything. I really enjoyed this beautiful love story and I give this my ratings of 5-bring out the vibrators. This was a definite unique spin on a  gay for you romance and I look forward to reading more from this new author.

Someone to Hear Me by T. A . McKay

Title: Someone to Hear Me             Word Count:290pgs
Genre:Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:Kohan has a simple life but he’s happy. The only thing that’s missing is that special someone to come home to at night. That is until he literally bumps into Ares, a man who sparks his interest, but he rushes off before Kohan can talk to him. When he sees the stranger again, Kohan is determined that he’s not going to let him escape this time.
What Kohan doesn’t know is he’s falling for a guy that has been through more than he could ever imagine, and when Ares’ dark past catches up with him, there might be a chance that neither man will walk away unhurt.

We all dream of finding that one true love, the person who completes you, and when you find them you should hold on tight to them. But what happens when that dream turns into a nightmare, one that you can’t escape from? Ares is running from a past that almost cost him his life, a past that changed everything.
When he meets Kohan he’s scared of letting someone in, scared that history will repeat itself, but finally he sees that not everyone is out to hurt him. He sees that maybe someone could love him without causing pain.
But when the thing Ares is hiding from appears again, it takes him right back into that dangerous past and he doesn’t know if he will survive it this time.

My name is Ares, and the man I married is the person who will probably kill me.
I want to leave.
I want to escape.
I don’t want to die.
My name is Ares and I want Someone To Hear Me.

Please Note this book contains scenes of domestic abuse that some people may find uncomfortable.

My Review: It is never easy when someone who swore to love and cherish you breaks your trust. Twenty five year old Ares learns this the hard way, after he wakes up in the hospital with his life irrevocably changed. After being beaten and terrorized numerous times by his husband Micah for the slightest infractions, his husband finally went to far. Micah has beaten Ares so badly that his face is left disfigured with a scar bisecting his forehead and he is now deaf. As many victims do , Ares blames himself for what Micah did. Even though Micah is imprisoned, Ares still lives in fear for his life.

Ares suffers from PTSD and he has panic attacks if he is surrounded by too many people. He flinches at every shadow , and he is virtually a hermit. He knows he has to do something to reclaim his life. Ares’ therapist suggests that he find a job and meet new people. Ares finds a job as a cleaner at a newspaper office and that’s where he meets Kohan. Kohan is a journalist and he is immediately intrigued by the quiet man who refuses to look at him and make eye contact.

There is just something about Kohan that makes Ares feels safe. Its the safest he’s felt in a long time with another man. The two men form a tentative friendship and Kohan soon realizes that he wants more, but he sees a dark fear hidden in Ares. Ares finds himself confessing the horrors of his past, at least some of it. Kohan is saddened to know that such a sweet man has been hurt by such a monster. Kohan is extremely patient and understanding with Ares and his issues.

Everyday Ares gets a little bit stronger mentally and continues on his quest to reclaim his life. He makes a concerted effort to open up more to Kohan even though it scares him. He doesn’t feel like its fair to take things any further with Kohan for fear that he won’t be able to follow through. Kohan notices every time Ares takes two steps forward he retreats a little. He refuses to let Ares push him away, because he knows he is the light that Ares needs to step out of the shadows.

Things heat up between the two after Ares attempts a night out with Kohan and his best friend Sophie.Ares feels almost normal after a few drinks, he definitely feels desire when Kohan rubs against him while they dance. He gives in to the pleasure and allow himself to feel again. Kohan realize that underneath that fear is a very passionate willing young man and he wants to stoke that flame. These moments are heartbreaking and oh so tender and just what Ares needs to move past his pain.

We see all the atrocities Micah perpetrated against Ares through his nightmares and flashbacks. One thing that comes through is how much Ares blames himself. He fears he will make the same mistake with another man because he feels like he can’t trust his own judgement. This is a continuous setback in his relationship with Kohan. Kohan’s strength and patience is constant, because he knows its what Ares needs whenever he catches a glimpse of his past pain.

Kohan soon realizes that the key to making their relationship work is to treat Ares as normal as possible and not like he is fragile glass. Ares is able to experience the beauty of a relationship and receiving pleasure without the repercussions of pain. It is exhilarating for Ares the freedom he is finally experiencing. Ares takes charge for the first time in his sexual encounters. Kohan relishes this new dominant side of Ares and he allows him this freedom of taking the role of top. He understands that this role empowers Ares and continues to strengthen his positive personality.

They make plans to go out to meet with Kohan’s brother Carey and his new beau Duncan. The whole night starts going downhill from the beginning when Duncan doesn’t turn up. Carey’s in a foul mood and this causes the brothers to argue. Kohan is upset that Carey isn’t even trying to get to know his boyfriend. Ares gives them a moment . He has a panic attack when he thinks he sees someone who looks like his ex Micah. Ares bolts from fear and leaves in a cab.

Once again Ares does not trust his instincts and this proves to be his downfall. It turns out that Duncan is actually Micah who is out of prison on a technicality. Micah attacks Ares and the horrible abuse starts right away. Ares tries to break up with Kohan through a text. Kohan goes straightaway to his house, but Ares is firm in pushing him away. Kohan respects Ares’ wishes and go on a three day drinking binge. It isn’t until a family crisis that his brothers pulls him out of his stupor.

By the time Kohan figures that something is wrong, Ares has been held hostage for more than a week with his despicable ex. The abuse he endures is horrendous and almost pulls Ares deep down in the dark abyss. It isn’t until Micah hurts Kohan that Ares gets the courage to defend the love of his life. Ares kills Micah and ends his cruel reign. Kohan just got a taste of the atrocities that Ares must have experienced, but it scarred him pretty good. Kohan has nightmares and flashbacks now, but it is Ares’ steadfast presence that keeps him sane . I really enjoyed this one. It had the right amount of angst. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.

Psycho ( Brawlers 2) by J.M.Dabney

Title: Psycho                               Word Count: 129 pgs

Genre: Biker Gay Romance
Blurb:Welcome to Brawlers Bar…

Life wasn’t easy when you were certifiable, Gerald “Psycho” Clemons lived on the fringes of society. Five years he hadn’t thought twice about riding with a group who saw most laws as flexible. When the leader of the group turned crazier than Psycho, he stepped in and made the man pay. He’d never been rewarded for his temper before, yet that’s what happened when he earned a permanent place and a job as a bouncer. Everyone walked a wide circle around him, and he liked it that way. One look from his cold black eyes and he had people backing up. Then he met a man who had to be crazier than him.

Decadence Bakery was Ben Morin’s dream come true, and he loved it, but he grew tired of his lonely existence. Six months earlier he’d turned on the open sign and hopefully changed his life for the better. Ben loved his small cottage in the middle of nowhere even with the 3 a.m. rumbling of motorcycles and loud music at the farm next door. Although one thing he didn’t love, was his new hobby of watching one of the terrifying men next door. What could a little harmless peek now and then hurt?

Sweet and older wasn’t his type, but Psycho couldn’t deny the need to possess the beautiful baker. It was stronger than even the insanity he barely kept at bay, could he have a man who looked passed it or would Ben run like all the rest?

My Review: Psycho, his name says it all. Psycho is one of the Brawlers crew who is known to be psychotic and crazy as hell. He has had a rough upbringing and this has defined his life to a tee. Psycho’s life is inundated with violence and tenderness is a very foreign concept. Lately,he finds himself yearning for someone to call his own. He has scrutinized his bosses Scary and Tank’s triad relationship to their husband Elijah. Reason being that Scary and Tank are rough and tumble bikers like himself and Elijah is gentle and sweet. What he really craves is the love and gentleness that he sees flowing through this triad, he wishes that he knew how to make a relationship work like that.

Psycho is confused about dating and everything that goes into a relationship. When he meets the older sexy baker Ben Morin, he wants to see where it could lead. They have a very awkward first meeting where Psycho takes care of Ben after he has been accidentally knocked down by his employee. Psycho is extremely gentle, taking care of Ben’s bleeding nose without even thinking about it.  However, he spoils this tenderness by demanding that Ben goes home with him. Ben is definitely not used to a persona like Psycho and he is confounded by his request. As tempted as he is by the big sexy biker, he doesn’t do casual hookups. Psycho feels rejected and doesn’t even wait for Ben to explain.

Psycho goes back to Brawlers feeling dejected and sulking. It is Scary who decides to help the confused man and give him a few dating tips. Psycho is still wary, but decides to give it another shot. His chance comes when Landon ,one of the Twirled crew tells Ben about the wedding that his crazy mishmash family is having. Ben decides to make a cake for the triad wedding, leaving Elijah ecstatic. Ben has definitely found new friends with most of the partners of the Twirled and Brawlers crew. Psycho suggests nicely that they chill and watch some movies. Ben is surprisingly comforted by Psycho’s stilted conversational skills.

Their relationship starts off slow when Psycho keeps on second guessing his every move with Ben. Ben sets him at ease by telling him to be himself. He continuously reassures Psycho that he enjoys his company, verbal diarrhea and all. Once Pyscho sees this for the truth, everything takes off at full speed. It soon becomes clear that Psycho likes his sex rough and tumble, just like how he lives his life. This certainly is nothing like the vanilla sex Ben is used to , but he finds it refreshing and sexually liberating. He gets a kick out of being Psycho’s ‘boy’ and loves  it when he is spanked. This certainly leads to some sexy man on man action.

Ben soon realizes what he has set himself up for being in a relationship with Psycho, when Psycho lands himself in jail beside his friend Joker. Ben is just mad that his man is kept for over two days, he is not mad at Psycho for getting caught beating the hell out of the man who put Harper,a transwoman in the hospital.  Ben understands that with Psycho he will have to take the good with the bad. His acceptance and his support of Psycho’s personality goes along way to forging the strong relationship that Pyscho has  dreamed of recently.

Ben is honoured to be a part of Psycho’s rough, crazy biker family. He even goes so far as to befriend Psycho’s ex wife Bernie and her  beautiful wife. Psycho is so much more relaxed and secure in his love for Ben. They are even talking about kids in their future. I really enjoyed this one. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.

Scary ( Twirled World Ink 3) by J. M. Dabney

Title : Scary                          Word Count:196 pgs

Genre: Gay Biker Romance

Blurb:Welcome to Twirled World Ink where the crazies run the asylum.

Gene Sheridan earned the appropriate nickname when Legend Gib Phelps employed him at Twirled World Ink—Scary. No one made it out of his old neighborhood without scars both mental and physical. At one time, Scary thought he had a chance that is until his ex-boyfriend discovered slumming with someone like him wasn’t worth his trust fund. No-strings hookups became his go-to when he needed to relieve some tension. Co-owning a bar called Brawlers with his best friend, Tank, made it easy to find a body to use for the night. If not happy he was content with his life, but one man made content seem like such a terrible thing.

Elijah Vaughn worried about everything. His life was put on hold at eighteen when his mostly-absent parents died on one of their many adventures leaving him to raise his six-year-old brother, Brody. He’d never had anything or anyone that was just his. When Brody met a tattoo artist named Trouble, Elijah hadn’t realized how much it would change his life too. He met a huge man named Scary and how the man made him feel terrified him.

Tank Davis lost his voice the night he was attacked and had this throat slit ear-to-ear. It kept him in a world of silence. Silent and intimidating, he scared off more men than he drew to him. His best friend Scary and him made a life for themselves in small town Georgia with their bar Brawlers. Most night everyone could find him working security at the door. Scary called in a favor, and Tank met the one man he couldn’t resist, proper and upstanding Elijah Vaughn.

Can one man accept that there’s not one perfect man for him, but two damaged souls who need him to be whole?

Author’s Note: Although this is part of a series each book is stand alone and every book deals with a separate couple.
My Review:  Gene ‘Scary’ Sheridan is the big bad wolf out of all the Twirled Crew. He is mean as hell and he doesn’t care who knows it. From the very first moment he met Brody’s brother Elijah, he’s been unsettled. He has come across prissy clean cut men like Elijah before and nothing good has ever come from it. Elijah has been very attracted to Scary from the first moment, but he knows Scary hates him. At first he wasn’t sure about all these tattooed bikers in Brody’s life, but he now realize how genuine and loyal they are. Elijah feels comfortable being around them, because what you see is what you get. He yearns for the type of relationship that his brother has with Trouble. Elijah is not sure what he wants from Scary, he just wished it didn’t hurt so much to be ignored by him.

Princess has bragged about all of her ‘uncles’ to Elijah, especially Scary and his silent best friend Tank. After a horrible event that left Tank scarred, he has been unable to speak ever since. Most of the crew talks to Tank in ASL. When Tank lays eyes on Elijah for the first time,he is definitely smitten by the pretty little man. Elijah allows Tank to feel something he hasn’t felt in forever. Tank finds his protective instincts coming out with Elijah. He wants him.

When Brody notices the weird dynamic between the three men at one of Scary’s famous sleepover, he corners his brother. Brody’s reality check puts a damper on Elijah’s feelings and it hurts to feel like he doesn’t belong. Elijah goes to find the bathroom and accidentally walk in on Scary pleasuring himself. He is about to back out of the room, when he is cornered by Tank at his back. Tank becomes the mastermind and gently nudges them in the right direction. Sparks fly between these three and the passion that unfolds is inevitable. Before they can even get anything started, Elijah gets scared and run away.  He is scandalized at his feelings for both Scary and Tank.

Tank and Scary are a little hesitant to pursue Elijah due to his respectable job as the mayor. However, their feelings quickly overshadow respectability and they decide to go after their ‘boy’. They approach Elijah with the concept of a threesome and he is stupefied , but he can’t deny his attraction for the two of them. They decide to start dating. It doesn’t take long for Elijah to be indoctrinated to the hardcore sex of these two tattooed bikers. They know Elijah is a delicate flower on the outside, but Scary’s aim is definitely to muss up all that perfectness and turn him into a dirty ‘boy’.

They get a nice groove going, but insecurities pop up for Tank and he feels like a fifth wheel. Scary is there to soothe his best friend but he knows it has to come from Elijah. Elijah does his best to reassure Tank even though he is away on a business trip. Scary seeing that its not enough , plans for them to meet up at Elijah’s hotel. The flames are combustible when they meet up. Scary is undeniably dominant and aggressive , whereas Tank leads with quiet dominance that is almost gentle. Elijah feels like he might have found his fit with these two brash men. When they finally get to talking they realise that they all are a little insecure. They don’t feel like they are enough individually, but they are learning that together they will measure up equally.

Their lives become further embroiled when Elijah decides to start the adoption paperwork to foster a 12 year old girl who he catches breaking in his car. There is just something about Sophie that tugs at his heartstrings. Scary has dubbed her Juvie and the name is very fitting since she is a charming misunderstood juvenile delinquent. These three men can’t imagine their lives without Juvie.

Tank’s past comes back to haunt them when his ex boyfriend Ian, who disfigured him rolls into town. Ian starts messing with them and takes an interest into Elijah. The men toss Ian out of Brawlers when he decides to revisit his twisted attraction to Tank by kissing him. This brings up a host of feelings in Scary, the main ones being jealousy and his possessive tendencies. When Juvie calls to say  Elijah didn’t pick her up from school , they know something is wrong. Elijah is missing for 2 days before they get a clue. It’s one of Ian’s men Psycho , who gives them a lead. They are not sure if they can trust Psycho, but they don’t have a choice.Psycho, Tank, Scary and the rest of the Brawlers get Elijah back in one piece, just a bit bruised. It doesn’t end well for Ian and he certainly will not be missed. Psycho becomes Elijah’s personal bodyguard and is yet another addition to the Brawlers crazies.

Tank withdraws from his men, taking all of the blame on himself for Elijah getting hurt. Elijah and Scary ambushes Tank at his cabin, but its definitely Scary running the show. He is very dominant and shows Tank who is the boss. Tank needs this aggression from Scary. Scary possessed Tank’s body while Elijah watched. This is the first time for the trio to come together sexually. It was intense, brutal and oh so primal. These two rough and tumble bikers finally got the man to soothe their demons and a family with Juvie that they never hoped to have. Scary makes it official by proposing a commitment ceremony. The love amongst these three men is a beautiful thing. I give this my ratings of 5- bring out  the vibrators.

Trouble ( Twirled World Ink 2) by J. M. Dabney

Title: Trouble                        Word Count: 127 pgs

Genre: Gay Biker Romance

Blurb: Welcome to Twirled World Ink where the crazies run the asylum.

Model perfect Jimmy “Trouble” Carver had never heard the word no. Tattooed, sexy and the quintessential bad boy Trouble had men falling over themselves to get to him. What people didn’t know about him was he was self-conscious even if life was easy for him. He’d started out as an apprentice at Twirled World Ink after college and never looked back. Trouble was exactly where he wanted to be, although there was one speed bump, his crush refused to go out on a date.

Brody Vaughn worked in a dead-end job, barely making it from paycheck to paycheck. He didn’t have much time for anyone other than his five-year-old daughter Mina and besides he’d never quite found a place in this world he fit. Chunky and average, that’s how he felt, except for when Trouble came into the grocery store where he worked. The flirty, gorgeous man asked him out every week with a sexy smile, but Brody had to refuse. It wasn’t as if he wanted to say no, it was just how could he date a man Brody knew he had no business trying to keep.

The Crazies of Twirled World Ink excel at one thing, matchmaking, and they are determined their resident bad boy would get his man. They just had to make sure that neither Trouble or Brody screwed up their plan.

Author’s Note: Although this is part of a series each book is a stand alone and every book deals with a separate couple.
My Review: Jimmy ‘Trouble’ Carver is the playboy of the Twirled crew , or so it would seem because of his good looks. However, for months he has been pining for the short, cute chunky grocery store clerk Brody. For some reason Brody keeps turning down the sexy tattoo artist, even though he can’t always keep his eyes off. Yet again , Trouble leaves the store feeling dejected after another invitation gets turned down. There is just something about Brody he can’t get out of his mind, even though he is not his usual type.

Brody finds Trouble very handsome, but he knows he can’t act on his desires. He has other responsibilities in his life, namely Mina his daughter. Brody is a single dad barely making ends meet and he knows he has to put Mina first and forget about his little crush. When Brody takes Mina out to a diner and is met with a full house, he is disappointed. He is surprised to hear   Trouble calling out to him. Brody and Mina get to meet the whole crew when Trouble suggests that they join their table. Mina latches on to the biggest biker of them all Scary. Brody is very intimidated by Scary , but Trouble sets him at ease and seeing how gentle Scary is with Mina is definitely endearing.

Trouble certainly wants to push his advantage and calls to invite Brody and Mina to watch a kid friendly movie and see the tattoo shop. This unconventional night goes off without a hitch and has quite  few chaperones, including all the Twirled World crew and  Brody’s brother mayor Elijah Vaughn. Mina is ecstatic about all the attention she receives from all of Trouble’s family and she has each of them wrapped around her little finger. Mina has now been dubbed ‘Princess’ by all her honorary  biker uncles.

This is new territory for Brody but he likes having friends. The relationship takes on a life of its own , because Trouble knows he definitely wants Brody and Princess in his life. Brody knows he wants to keep this man, when he sees the vulnerability hidden behind Trouble’s eyes after a run- in with his uptight family. It seems that Trouble is from a well to do family who likes to take every opportunity to criticize and put him down for his lifestyle. Brody cuddles his man and this leads them slowly out of the friend zone.

Trouble decides that they need a one on one date even though Brody is not ready for sex yet. A lot of their insecurities are revealed as  they start talking, but they both try to sooth the tension from each other . Trouble lets Brody know that he sees permanence in their future. Trouble wants to infiltrate Brody’s life and do all the couply sort of things. As much as Brody resisted at first, he is coming to realize that he loves Trouble and wants him as Princess’ other dad.

All of Twirled crew, the Brawlers and Brody show Trouble the true meaning of family when they pull together and rally around him when his stuck up family tries to cause problems. Brody’s brother Elijah sets a plan in place to humiliate the Carvers and try to ruin their social standing since that’s all they care about. This definitely pulls Brody and Trouble together. He has never had anyone stand up for him like Brody. He sees how strong and protective his sexy little man is of his family. Now, Trouble believes in Brody’s love and sees a beautiful future for all of them. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Closet Case ( Sexy Nerd Boys 4) by K .M. Neuhold

Title: Closet Case                        Word Count: 168 pgs

Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:Jax

That awkward moment when you accidentally fool around with a closet case. I have a strict policy against dating closeted guys. Confused straight guys? Absolutely. Guys who don’t mind being out and proud? Duh. But closet cases are a hard pass. Been there, done that, have the t-shirt with a giant picture of a broken heart on it. It would be a lot easier to stick to my dating rule if Matthew Hart could be slightly less irresistible.

Matthew

Being a closeted gay college football player is not all it’s cracked up to be. After I broke my high school boyfriend’s heart by refusing to come out of the closet, I swore off serious dating. I don’t want to hurt anyone like that again, and I’ll admit I’m protecting my own heart in the process, too. It was a lot easier to stick to my no dating rule before I laid eyes on Jax Greene. He’s exactly my type in every possible way. If there’s even the slightest chance that history won’t repeat itself, I want to see where things might lead. Convincing Jax to give me a chance though might be the toughest play I’ve ever made.

**This book is the first M/M installment of the Sexy Nerd Boys series, but can be read as a stand-alone. Recommended for 18+ due to language and all kinds of hot sex.

My Review: Jackson is very ‘out and proud’ and that’s the way he likes it. His former boyfriend Beck was a closet case and he has decided never to make the same mistake twice. Jax has hookups but nothing meaningful. When he meets the sexy straight looking quarterback Matthew in his anthropology class, he decides to flirt a little. Matthew sees Jax and knows that he’s definitely his type. He can’t seem to get Jax out of his head.

When he goes to hangout with his friend Hadley and her boyfriend, he is surprised to see that Jax is a mutual friend. Jax re-evaluates his little flirting game when he realizes that Matty is not straight, but rather gay and firmly in the closet. Jax has certain rules in place to protect his heart from another relationship filled with secrets and lies. Even though they are both lonely, they decide to stay in the friend zone, especially when they are paired up for their anthropology project.

It doesn’t take long for Jax to realize that he can’t just be friends with the sexy stud muffin that is Matty Hart. Things get hot and heavy between them after they go to a gay club with their friends. Jax watches another guy who is his look-alike hit on Matty and that’s the straw that broke the camel’s back. Jealousy rears its ugly head for Jax and Matty knows he needs to take his man home and prove that Jax will be his.

They settle in a mutually beneficial sexual arrangement that works for them for awhile. Jax knows that he has fallen into the same trap he has avoided since his last breakup, but he can’t resist Matty. He genuinely likes him and it helps that he is a cuddle bug. They have quite a few meaningful nights canoodling while watching Marvel movies and making out. Matty loves all the quirky little things about Jax and wishes that his NFL aspirations didn’t conflict with a future as a gay man.

This bone of contention soon comes to a head when both halves of Matthew’s lives clash at a frat party. Jax is surprised to see Matty at the party and approaches him in front of his football buddies. He is harshly rebuffed and this hurts more than he can say. Matty feels horrible about how he treats Jax, but his fear of being outed is a powerful thing. Jax lets him know that he can’t continue living a lie and walks out of his life.

Matty is broken by the turn of events and turns into a zombie. His friend Hadley tries to drag him out of his slump, but it’s his mom who finally pulls him out and tells him to stop hiding. A big part of Matthew’s self image and his view on ‘coming out’ is steeped into the vitriolic standards of how a ‘real man’ should be according to his father. When his father was alive he would verbally abuse him and call him a sissy. Matthew acknowledges to himself that he needs to stop caring what other people think, because he can’t see a future without Jax. Matty knows he needs to make a grand gesture to win Jax’s heart and that comes in the form of their anthropology project. They chose the topic on homosexuality and how it’s viewed in different cultures. When Matty starts talking about sports culture and how homosexuality is tied into ideas of masculinity,  one of his teammates shout out that there are no gays in football. Matty doesn’t even think, he just shuts his teammate down and outs himself in front of the whole class. A statement that was once panic inducing, has now liberated him. Jax is in shock, but he supports his man and is very proud that Matty has finally found himself. They celebrate by consummating  the new parameters of their relationship expressing their love with lots of sweet kisses.

This is certainly a happily ever after and we get a glimpse eight years in their future where we see them  settled and getting ready to celebrate their daughter’s first birthday. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear. It was just the right amount of angst, sweetness and sexual chemistry between Jax and  Matty. Loved it!!!

Blurb:“I don’t even know who I am anymore.”

Seth would follow Domenico to the depths of hell. He promised to always be at Domenico’s side. But hell becomes all too real when they infiltrate the world of Toro – a notoriously security-obsessed arms dealer, who has eyes and ears everywhere.

Seth becomes unable to steal even a moment of intimacy with Domenico, and the tension grinds them down each day. Beyond the deceptive paradise of Toro’s villa, violence is an everyday occurrence, and the swimming pool could just as well be filled with blood. To survive, Seth has to become the man Domenico needs him to be, but in the process, he might lose who he truly is.

With Seth trained up, and Mark as backup, victory is so close Domenico can taste it. They just need to prove themselves to Toro as valuable assets. With each day though, Seth seems to be drifting away from Domenico, hidden behind a mask of cruelty and indifference. It is exactly what Domenico asked of him, so why is it so difficult to see Seth become his mirror image?

My Review: The journey of Seth and Domenico continues with Seth taking care of their makeshift family. Seth is in his element in the kitchen cooking exotic food. This is reminiscent of the easy life of leisure he used to have at the beginning of this series. Domenico as usual is relaxed and happy when his man is cooking for him. The newest additions to their family, Mark the teenage boy who they ‘adopted’ and Miguel the former cartel boss who they’ve joined forces with to fight against their common enemies.

They are on a mission to takedown Toro and the Morenos. Dana is their inside source to Toro since she has been sleeping with him. She reveals to Dom that she is pregnant , but thinks she will have an abortion. Dom is furious on the innocent child’s behalf and we see once again what a cold-hearted  bitch Dana can be. She reveals some of Toro’s plans and Dom is excited to get his plan underway.

When they instigate the first part of the plan, everything goes awry. Seth is forced to kill once again. This proves to Dom that his head is in the game, but he also sees the innocent , sweet part of Seth receding more and more. It seems they have bit off more than they can chew with this latest scheme. Unbeknownst to them, the boat that they have captured is trafficking a teenage girl and this is their only way to infiltrate Toro’s camp as smugglers. Dom and Seth are pretending to be brothers and this definitely does not sit well with Seth. He knows that they can’t be openly gay, but now he has lost the right to touch Dom intimately because of their ruse.

They pull off their con successfully and are now guests at Toro’s mansion. It is slow going though because everywhere has cameras and bugs. Seth is trying really hard ,but he is slowly losing his composure at some of the cruelties he witness. Dom is in his element, because he is used to playing the spy from his days in the mafia. Dom sees this as a way they can finally get their lives back and return to their home in Italy one day. In his mind, Seth questions whether this new plan to go back ‘home’ is worth endangering their lives.

Things go off without a hitch for a few weeks. They lounge by the poolside and play the part of criminals. Their cover is blown to bits when the Morenos show up. The younger brother Nero Moreno is a well known gay man who likes to make all these macho men squirm with his flirting. He is instantly attracted to Seth and sits on his lap, this causes Dom to go ballistic. Hotheaded Dom approaches them and pulls Nero up by his hair. Everybody is definitely shocked when Dom ‘outs’ them and tells Nero to get his hands off his man .

Seth is shocked and furious at Dom’s lack of control. He is upset at the new predicament that they have now landed in and argues with Dom. In the heat of the moment, he reveals secrets that he was forced to keep for their son Mark. Seth recently found out that Mark is bisexual and has been sleeping with the teenage girl who was meant for the elder Moreno. Dom is outraged that Seth could keep something like this from him. Without thinking he slaps Seth around and Seth responds with aggression of his own. Dom tries to pull back as he remembered the rift they had the last time he was physically aggressive towards his husband.

Their physical aggression soon turns into passion and they find themselves kissing and touching, something they have long been denied. These two hot men are like a furnace burning for each other. The chemistry between these two always makes for some hot sexy times. Although, I must admit they always end up making love at the most inopportune times, but I guess the danger enhances their passion to a frenzied state.

It becomes clear that they are now pariahs in Toro’s mansion. Since they have been caught in a lie Toro demands that Seth proves that he can get his hands dirty. Toro tells him to cut off a little girl’s hand. Seth is willing to do mostly anything to keep their cover intact, but he finds this request to be horrifying. Toro takes exception to Seth’s defiance and takes him as his prisoner. When Toro’s thugs go to fetch Dom, Dana comes through and helps Dom to kill the men and get away. Dana promises to stage a distraction to get Seth away. The waiting almost kills Dom and he is distraught at having put Seth in a position of danger  yet again.

Domenico is overwhelmed with relief and joy when Seth and Miguel meets him in the designated tunnel. It is a double edged sword however , because their son Mark is still trapped in the mansion. Everything goes to shit and by the time they get back to the mansion chaos reigns. Mark is able to kill one of the Morenos and two of his thugs when they come to take Charlotte away. Dana is able to use some kind of poison that puts everyone to sleep. Domenico is impressed and very proud that Mark has learnt his lessons well.

Domenico certainly doesn’t know when to quit while he is ahead. Even though they are all safe and free to walk away unscathed, he decides that he needs to go after Toro who is planning to get away in his helicopter. Dom tells Seth to stay behind as he cannot afford any distractions. Seth is definitely hurt when he thinks that Dom doesn’t think he is man enough. However , he is placated when Dom assures him its only for his protection.Seth always seem to have a sixth sense where Dom is concerned or maybe its just the fact that he loves him so deeply. There he is watching his husband from afar, when he noticed that Dom might be cornered and  in trouble with Toro and his thugs. He doesn’t hesitate to get the job done. He kills them with his high-powered rifle, leaving only Toro alive  so that Dom can interrogate him.

Dom is impressed and elated that his husband has once again saved his ass. Time and time again throughout this series, we have seen the ruthless side of Seth when it comes to taking care of the love of his life. The main thing that has been constant and steadfast is that even though Seth abhors violence, he will step up to the plate and protect his loved ones. I really enjoyed this book and I think that Dom finally sees Seth as his equal in terms of his emotional strength in the way he deals with their harsh world. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.
