Rebel ( Ballsy Boys 1) by K. M. Neuhold & Nora Phoenix

Title: Rebel Word Count:248 pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:”I don’t do relationships, I break them.” ~ Troy

If there’s one thing life has taught me it’s that everyone eventually leaves. But that’s okay because I have a strategy: no friends, no boyfriends, limit repeat hook-ups, no sleep overs, and above all leave them before they leave me. I’ve put my break-up skills to work doing others’ dirty work for them.
The last thing I expected when I agreed to do an embarrassing breakup song and dance was to end up on the doorstep of the very recognizable—and stupidly sexy—Rebel. When you meet a man like Rebel you’d be insane not to make a move. And just because he has me tossing out every single one of my rules doesn’t mean I’m in trouble, right?

“I’m everyone’s friend, but no one’s everything.” ~ Rebel

I love working for Ballsy Boys, but when you make the kind of videos I do relationships are pretty damn impossible. Besides, guys find me sexy and want to either be with me or be me, but no one has ever cared enough to see the real me.
Until I meet Troy. He has no problem whatsoever with my job, but he’s determined to keep me at a distance. For the first time, a hook-up alone is not enough. I want more with him. Hell, I want everything. But he resists at every step until I’m about ready to give up. What do I need to do to show him that this is real and worth fighting for?

***Rebel is the first book in the Ballsy Boys Series and is a super sexy MM romance with plenty of good times. While this book and this series do contain some instances of sex outside of the main relationships, they DO NOT contain cheating.

My Review: The life of a porn star is certainly not all glitz and glory. For Rebel, this life is lonely. For the most part he loves his job as a gay porn star. He especially loves the family they’ve created at Ballsy Boys, it’s not just a job. This lifestyle is not easy when it comes to having normal relationships. Rebel knows that all too well. He is reminded by this when he is faced with a break-up artist on his doorstep.

Being a break-up artist is what Troy does for a living. He does the dirty work at ending relationships for people who would rather not deal with the messiness of a break-up. This pays the bills and it’s helping Troy to pay for his degree in video game design. All his life, Troy has been pushed around from foster home to foster home. He’s never been able to depend on anyone, he’s the perpetual loner. His childhood has definitely shaped how he views the world. To put it lightly, he has commitment issues. This job is perfect for him and he’s a professional. That is until he’s faced with breaking up with his favorite pornstar. Troy is star struck and puzzled by who would want to break up with this walking demigod.

Rebel is a little disappointed to hear that his boyfriend wants to breakup. However, the blow is softened when Troy offers up himself on a silver platter. What is to be a one off hook-up blooms into a tentative friendship. Troy is very skittish and hesitant at first to call upon Rebel for help, but has no choice when a break-up job goes south. Rebel is happy to see that Troy considers him a friend. That’s the first time he sees Troy’s apartment. It is clear that Troy is a little uncomfortable, but Rebel works his magic and soothes Troy with some serious TLC ( touching, lusting and caressing).

Things continue to get hot and heavy between these two sexy lovers. Rebel invites Troy to go to his parents anniversary. For the first time Troy sees the beauty of family life. Rebel’s family is warm, accepting and very open about everything , especially Rebel’s porn career. This family leaves Troy yearning for things he gave up on when he was really young and innocent. Rebel is also yearning for that sweetness he gets a glimpse of hidden behind Troy’s sad eyes. Even though they agreed to keep things casual, Rebel is ready to place a label on their relationship. Rebel wants to be the one that Troy can depend on, he wants a future with him.

Rebel starts setting things in place so that they can have a future. First order of business for him is to take a step back from doing porn. Even though Troy has never said he has a problem with Rebel’s career, he decides to look into the creative side of the porn business instead. He talks to his boss Bear who is very excited to work with Rebel in that capacity.

When he shares his news, Troy is not as elated. Troy’s first reaction is to panic. He is upset that Rebel has changed the rules of the game. Fear is certainly guiding Troy’s path. He is afraid of not being good enough, most of all he fears rejection if Rebel finds him lacking. Deep down inside, Rebel knows this is the problem. He knows he is going to have to prove to Troy that things can work . After a week of radio silence from Troy, Rebel decides to lure him in with video sexting. Troy shows up on his doorstep within minutes and passionately attacks his sex god. Their passion culminates into cosmic orgasms, after which they talk about feelings. Troy is still running scared, but now its out in the open, Rebel is falling for him. He is anxious at the possibility of change, but if he is honest with himself he knows he’s already in love with Rebel.

Troy knows that he needs to take a chance on love. He makes a grand gesture by going to one of Rebel’s award shows. He makes his declaration of love and Rebel is ecstatic that his man has come this far. They know it’s not going be an easy road , but they are both ready to see what their forever looks like. For once in his life, Troy sees someone who is dependable and will love him unconditionally. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Rebirth of his Omega( The Outcast Chronicles 4) by Christa Crown & Harper B. Cole

Title: Rebirth of his Omega Word Count:155 pgs
Genre: Paranormal Gay Romance/ Mpreg

Blurb:Fire is death.

Ryan lost his family to a fire when he was young, and its haunted him ever since, especially while chasing the arsonist who has been kidnapping gifted shifter kids. Now that they’ve captured the man and his phoenix accomplice and rescued the kids, Ryan thinks maybe life will be able to get back to normal…

But when the phoenix, a creature born of fire, turns out to be Ryan’s true mate, life becomes suddenly even more complicated.

Fire is life.

Phoenix is horrified when his memories return to him and he realizes the pain and suffering he has caused in his new life. His true mate wants nothing to do with him, but he’s determined to hold on to his mate no matter what. He’s never lost his chance with him in any other life, he’s certainly not going to start now.

Rebirth of His Omega is a 38k word novella featuring a lion with a fear of fire and the phoenix who has loved him for many lifetimes. It is the fourth book in the Outcast Chronicles, and it is recommended to read them in order for maximum enjoyment. This book contains mpreg, knotting, and too many kids for our lion to handle. Trigger warning for past infertility.

My Review: The story continues with the phoenix and Ryan the lion who loves to cook for the pack. At first, no one was sure what happened to the Phoenix after the dragon burnt the ancients and releases Wamp, the coyote shifter who caused so much destruction. The Phoenix returns to his senses with jumbled fragmented pictures. Putting those pictures together creates a really morbid consciousness for him. The Phoenix is a true Ancient and he has been reborn countless amount of times. He has lived many lifetimes, but he is shattered by what he has allowed himself to become through loneliness and the lies of a demented man. The man Wamp who he looked to as his master has used him to cause unspeakable destruction. Once his consciousness is fused together, the Phoenix is reconciling to all the damage he has done.

This is how Ryan finds him and his lion pounces. Ryan would love nothing more than to destroy the vulnerable looking man he sees before him. However, there is an unexplained tether that draws them together. Before he knows what’s happening, he’s balls deep in the Phoenix who already recognizes Ryan as his fated mate, a man who he’s known as his, throughout his many lifetimes. Ryan is surrounded by this fog of lust and comes to when they are rudely interrupted by Ryan’s pack alpha Asher. It is disconcerting for Ryan to see his mating mark on their enemy the Phoenix. He is disgusted when he thinks he is mated to a monster.

Their mating is certainly a convoluted mess. It is going to take a lot for everyone to see the Phoenix as someone other than the fire demon they have come to see him as. When Casper the seer reveals that the Phoenix is already pregnant with Ryan’s cub, it makes the situation even more difficult. Even though it is not fully sorted out in his mind, Ryan’s lion has already acknowledged the Phoenix as his mate and is ready to treat him as such. As a pack, they have even more responsibilities now that they have freed so many kids from under Wamp’s control. They all have to learn how to work with Phoenix. The burden is on Phoenix to prove that he is no longer a danger to the pack.

Phoenix who has had problems with infertility in his past lives is adamant that he is not pregnant. Ryan believes in what Caspar the seer has seen. As much as Phoenix would love to be connected to Ryan through a child, he just cannot believe that he is pregnant and give himself false hope. The pregnancy causes a barrier for the two of them, because every time Ryan mentions it, Phoenix shuts down. This is a very painful issue for Phoenix and the weight of his sadness is almost crushing. It soon becomes clear that all cannot be forgiven or forgotten. Ben comes face to face for the first time with Phoenix. All Ben sees is the man who killed his former mate in a fire and the kidnapper of his son Liam. Ben tries to attack and Phoenix flees.

There is definitely a dichotomy between Phoenix’s two personas in everyone’s mind, especially Ryan’s. On one hand , he is the Phoenix who brings death and destruction. On the other hand, the person that shines through right now is Phoenix, his vulnerable, saddened mate who is hurting by the circumstances of his nature. Caspar encourages Ryan to give Phoenix some space. Ryan wars with his lion, but he knows he needs to think. It is at this moment that Ryan realizes that he has gotten to know Phoenix’s true nature and he holds no ill-intent towards the pack. Ryan also sees the error of his ways, he tries so hard to push Phoenix away. How can he expect his own pack to embrace Phoenix if he ,Ryan the man has not fully embraced his own mate, only the lion has. He knows now what is in his destiny, to be one with his mate.

It has not been an easy road for these too. They will have to learn to navigate this new lifetime together. There is one thing that is sure, the spark between them will ignite a flame that will certainly burn forevermore. Their problems are far from over, but they will stand as one united front against all the dangers that they will face as a pack. When the kids are kidnapped again by one of their own, many answers are revealed. Ryan dies but is soon reborn by the power of the Phoenix’s tears.Ryan and Phoenix are now immortal.

Another Ancient is awakened, a dragon named Ryeth who uses pack member Simon as a conduit to communicate. Ryeth/ Simon sheds light on the war they will be facing and the true powers of the phoenix. Ryeth plays a big part as he is the only one able to deliver Phoenix’s twins since he is engulfed in flames during the process. Ryan and Phoenix are Both ecstatic to meet their twins Cassia and Michael. I really enjoyed this one and I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Omega Lost (The Rogue Pack 7) by Samantha Cayto

Title: Omega Lost Word Count:246 pgs
Genre: Paranormal Gay Romance/ Mpreg

Blurb:Bard didn’t hesitate to run from his old pack when his best friend needed him. His feral years were hard and even a tough gamma would rather live in a pack—so long as it is a good one led by an honorable alpha. The Rogue Pack proves to be the perfect new home for him to make his life. The only thing he lacks is a mate, and he has fought his attraction to the exquisite omega, Loki, for a while. When he is charged with Loki’s care, he is both elated and frustrated. He doubts the brat will ever see him as anything other than a captor.

Loki doesn’t understand why his brother forced him to leave their birth pack. No one who knows the answer is willing to tell him. That includes Bard, the annoyingly bossy and always right gamma who has dominion over him. Thwarted from returning to his arctic home, Loki takes his misery out on Bard in the form of bratty behavior. The sad thing is that he wants nothing more than to be happily mated and raising a family with a virile male like Bard. He simply can’t let go of his resentment toward those who keep him essentially a prisoner in the Rogue Pack.

The test of wills between Bard and Loki is coming to a head. Loki is no longer a pup. He’s becoming a mature omega and his heat is imminent. Bard will do anything to keep the boy safe, but when Loki refuses to be bred, Bard faces a terrible decision. The course he chooses may forever doom his growing love for the omega.

My Review: Ever since Loki has joined the pack with the ferals, he has always been viewed in a slightly negative light. At first, he was seen as a spoiled pup who has been overindulged by his brother Destin and the two Gammas Carr and Bard. As he flounders into adulthood, he is seen as a promiscuous, somewhat selfish, standoffish Omega. He is always seen as shirking his Omega duties and nature. He is always getting into some kind of trouble and running away from his protectors Gammas Carr and now Bard. Loki is aware of how he is viewed and it hurts him deeply, but he hides it through his defiance. There is an undercurrent of vulnerability that comes through in his unguarded moments. Loki feels cheated and he misses his home in the Arctic. He doesn’t understand why he was forced to flee with his brother in the dead of night.

The answer to that is held by the men who have been protecting him. They’ve all made a pact to keep this secret from Loki. Bard has started questioning this decision and slowly seeing the error of their ways. Bard has been with Loki since he was a pup. Unlike the others, watching the Omega grow into adulthood has fostered different feelings within him. Bard desires Loki and his wolf craves him to distraction. Above all else, he cares for Loki and would give him anything possible in his power. Now that Loki’s heat is imminent a decision has to be made quick or the Omega will die. Loki is in severe pain and his cries have put some of the other members of the pack in distress. It has forced Reed into early labour and Daniel is bristling with anger out of fear for his mate and unborn pup. Tensions are definitely high amongst the dominants.

Bard will mount and breed the Omega with or without his consent, he cannot watch Loki die. He knows it comes with a high price, Loki will certainly hate him once the deed is done. To him, this is the only recourse. He is in a really hard spot, no pun intended. On one hand he begs for Loki’s forgiveness for what he is about to do. On the other hand , his Gamma wolf is riding him doggedly, pushing him to take and breed his Omega finally. He tries to be as gentle as possible, but with Loki fighting diligently, it’s a slippery slope. Bard resists mating Loki as he knows this is a lifelong bond that cannot be broken. As much as he is willing to knot Loki to save his life ,he is unwilling to take away all of his choices. Even as strenuously as Loki fought, he can’t help but see the gentle caring that Bard gives him when his heat abates. Loki’s heat ends successfully in a pregnancy.

Most of Loki’s resentment stems from the fact that he is always kept in the dark. He feels like no one ever includes him in any decision making, it’s frustrating. He has no agency whatsoever and to him that’s the worst. He decides to step up and change things when the Omegas mention that the dominants are building a home so they can all live together. Loki storms out to Bard and lets his displeasure be heard about not being included in the plans. Bard apologizes for his lack of foresight, but Loki’s brother Destin doesn’t see why he is upset. Loki is learning how to navigate the pack as an adult and he is surprised when Bard defends him and seems to understand his position. The lines of communication are now open between Bard and Loki and they speak freely about what their feelings are towards each other. Bard now knows after talking to Loki that he doesn’t hate him, he just resented his high handed ways. Bard no longer feels totally hopeless about their future together when Loki asks him for time to sort out his feelings.

Loki’s reputation of a spoiled brat will be hard to evade, unless he proves himself. He courts danger unknowingly when they go on a moonlight pack run. Loki gets separated from the group and is charged by a black bear. Bard and another Beta Griffin comes to his rescue, but they are both hurt. Griffin is severely injured and unconscious and this causes a few people to be furious with Loki when they think he willfully ran away. Loki’s brother Destin is very upset and harsh words are exchanged between the two. The powder keg of emotions that they have been sitting on finally explodes. Loki goads Destin into revealing the secrets he has tried to protect him from since they ran from their pack. Loki is appalled and shattered to find out that his own father planned to rape and breed him in order to sire an alpha pup. Loki is even more upset and guilty when he thinks of all that he put Bard through, a Gamma who has sacrificed so much to protect him. He is overwhelmed with his newfound knowledge, but he thanks his brother for his sacrifice.

Loki is exhausted with the rollercoaster his feelings have been on. Finally, he acknowledges that Bard is the only mate he wants. He sees all of the sacrifices that Bard has made for him and his wellbeing. Loki is definitely on the road to adulthood and he is ditching all his brattiness. Until Bard lets it slip , that he likes a bit of bratty with his omega. These two are certainly in it for the long haul, it was a long road and a lot of uphill battles, but true love won the day. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Facing West: A Forever Wilde Novel by Lucy Lennox

Title: Facing West                   Word Count: 300 pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:Nico
I left my family and tiny Texas hometown fifteen years ago to escape small-town gossips and to give my mom and sister the chance at a better life. But when a phone call from an attorney back home informs me that my sister passed away, leaving me custody of her newborn baby, I’m shocked out of the steady life I’ve built for myself running a tattoo shop in San Francisco.

The thing is: I don’t do babies. And I don’t do small towns. Or commitment. And I especially don’t do family. My plan is to go back to Hobie just long enough to sign adoption papers, giving my niece the kind of stable, loving family I could never provide.

But the moment I meet my niece in the arms of Weston Wilde, my sister’s best friend and the town’s handsome doctor, my plans begin to change. Because suddenly, I see a different future. One with the very thing I thought I never deserved: a family. If only I can convince West that I’m not the same good-for-nothing kid ready to bolt when things get tough.

Weston
There’s one thing I know for sure about Nico Salerno: he was a good-for-nothing as a kid and judging by the purple-haired, tattoo’d punk who shows up at his sister’s funeral, he hasn’t changed. There’s no way I’m letting him take custody of my best friend’s baby.

But the more time I spend around him, the more I realize that his rough exterior is just a shell and that beneath all the tattoos is a scared, insecure man searching for a place to belong. And pretty soon I know exactly where he belongs: in my bed and by my side.

The problem is, he abandoned his family once before, how do I know that if we become a family he won’t do it again?

Facing West is the first in the new Forever Wilde series about the huge Wilde family from Hobie, Texas, whose patriarchs aren’t above a little meddling if that’s what it takes to help their grandkids find true love.

My Review: Nico Salerno has his own life far away from the small town of Hobie, Texas. He owns his tattoo shop and has been making his own way for the last 15 years without any contact from his family. Colour him shocked when he gets a phone call from a lawyer saying his sister has died and he needs to settle her affairs. He is heartbroken for a sister he believed hated him. There are a lot of feelings swirling around inside of him, at the very top being anger at the town and at the people he believed hated and resented him for being gay and abandoning his family.

Resentment is strongest coming from the esteemed Dr. Weston Wilde, his sister Adriana’s best friend. West sees a tattooed punk who only cares about himself and abandoned his family. He is worried that the same fate is about to happen to the precious 4 month old Pippa, Nico’s niece. Nico states clearly that he knows nothing about babies. From the very beginning, there is tension between Nico and West. West has his preconceived notions about Nico and Nico hates the fact that West judges him unfairly without knowing his story.

It soon becomes apparent that the two are attracted to each other. West doesn’t want to want this man who he knows is itching to leave everything and everybody from their small town. After witnessing Nico in confrontation with the closeted town sheriff Curt who is also his step brother , West goes to check on him. What he finds is a broken-hearted Nico who cries for his sister and his mother who he’s only learnt recently passed away years ago. Nico is faced with many regrets from his past. There is a tender moment between Nico and West when West offers him comfort and dulls his loneliness for just a moment.

Once West sees this side of Nico, all his protective instincts come to the surface and the attraction he held at bay can no longer be curtailed. When he decides to go after what he wants, Nico responds favorably to his dominance. Their night is filled with intense passion with moments of vulnerability on both their parts. They both realize that the journey they are about to embark on is not only about sex. With Pippa involved and both of them invested in her, things get real pretty fast.

They both realize that they make a good team and a familial bond is definitely being formed between them and Pippa. Nico starts reconciling the sister he knew with the one that West describes. He starts to realize that his sister apparently grew up and was respected by many in their small town. He regrets missing out on the relationship that could have been. This realization makes it even harder to think about leaving Pippa to be adopted by strangers. Their comfortable domesticity soon comes to a halt when disturbing information about Pippa’s father comes to light.

West is the father, at least that’s what the birth certificate states. Nico is shattered when he hears the news and doesn’t even allow West to plead his case. West is clueless as to why he is listed as Pippa’s father. He can only speculate as to why his best friend Adrianna would do that. He just wants to make it clear to the man he’s falling for that he never slept with his sister.

Nico does what he does best, he runs. It becomes hard for Nico to acclimate to his past life. He has been back for weeks , but his whole life feels so empty until West shows up at his tattoo shop. West claims his man in front of his friends. He expresses his love for Nico and for the first time Nico feels like he belongs. Nico goes back home to his small town Hobie, a place he now realize has always been in his blood. They know they will face challenges, but with the help of the Wildes, they will make it. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.

Brody & Nick ( Something About him 2) by A.D. Ellis

Title: Brody & Nick Word Count: 403 pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:Army specialist Brody King is a successful and respected soldier. With only a year left in his commitment, he devises a plan to help him save money—a plan that requires him to marry.

Nick Ferguson is working toward college graduation and his community services management career. With his lease about to expire, he’s more than willing to take Brody up on his crazy marriage scheme.

A solution that seems quick and easy turns into more than either of them ever anticipated. When Brody’s fears and insecurities surface, he makes a decision that may push Nick away forever.

Can a fake marriage built upon friendship withstand the obstacles of an uncertain future?

Brody & Nick is a story as old as time. Marriage of convenience, friends-to-lovers, and a guy who needs to pull his head from his ass.

**This is a male/male romance for ages 18+ due to adult language and themes.**

My Review: This has disaster written all over it or does it? Here we have two sexting buddies Brody King & Nick Ferguson who come up with this elaborate plan to get married as a way of saving money. Brody is in the army and he is allowed a housing credit only if he is married. Nick is going to school, working and he shares an apartment with Brody’s ex fuck buddy Dylan. Nick’s lease is almost up and he doesn’t really care to renew with his roommate. They both think a marriage of convenience will be mutually beneficial to them, plus they will avail themselves of the friend’s with benefit clause. Nick suggests that their foundation should be steeped in mutual respect, loyalty and friendship. These are all great premises, but is this really a great foundation for a marriage? I guess we will find out soon enough.

As soon as the ink dries on their marriage certificate, they feel a sense of accomplishment. They are both in high spirits, so they have a celebratory lunch and decide to start moving into their new apartment. Nick’s hopes are soon dashed when he overheard Brody explaining to his best friend Addie that she wasn’t invited because their marriage means nothing. Nick is hurt and so is Addie. They both commiserate by drinking White Russians. Brody sees the error of his ways and apologizes to the two people that means the most to him.

Having a homophobic commanding officer wasn’t too much of an issue for Brody, well up until now that is. Brody soon finds out how much of a problem it will be, when his CO accuses him of committing fraud with his marriage of convenience if he gets proof. His CO lets him know he will be watched. Brody knows he will have to up the ante and ensure that his marriage looks as real as possible to the outside world.

The lines become blurred a bit , because they both realize that it will be hard to be intimate while staying detached and sticking to their agreement and an inevitable separation. Things get shaken up in more ways than one, it brings out the role reversal when power bottom Brody starts thinking about topping Nick. One thing’s for sure, they are phenomenal in bed together, any which way possible. Their first date goes really well and Nick really enjoys himself. On the other hand Brody seems a little detached as he worries about being watched. When Nick calls him out on the emptiness he feels, Brody explains that he just hates that they have to fake things. Nick is slightly hurt at this assumption, but their full disclosure clause pushes him to be honest. Nick lays himself vulnerable, letting Brody know that he is truly enjoying being around him and their friends. Brody is certainly relieved to know that he isn’t the only one feeling the realness of their relationship. Their talk is enlightening as it allows them to freely talk about a future possibly together after their designated year.

A romantic getaway and a chance meeting with another gay couple who’s been together for decades forces Brody to become introspective. He thinks about the sham of a marriage that he’s cooked up and realize that what he really wants and can see in their future is something long term. They both leave their weekend feeling refreshed , while individually they both yearn for something more permanent under the quiet. They get back home to Brody’s mom waiting on the driveway. She demands the whole story as to why her son didn’t let her in on his marriage. She immediately falls in love with Nick as a son in-law. She calls Brody out on the burgeoning love she witness in his eyes. Things continue full speed ahead and each day they fall more and more in love with each other. The fireworks between them is amazing and each man holds each other in their heart as the ideal husband.

Nine months in and they are coasting through their relationship with their routines set in place. They make their differing shifts work and stay in contact through texts when they are away from each other. Truly a ‘couply’ thing to do. It is on a late night when Nick doesn’t check in as he should and Brody becomes worried. Instinct pushes him to check and what he finds leaves him weak, Brody laying in a pool of his own blood with two obvious head injuries. By the time Nick comes around , he tells the cops who were called that it was a homeless man from the shelter he works at who attacked him while looking for drugs. Brody is furious, but moreover he was scared out of his mind. He sees how close he came to losing the man he loves. Brody quietly professed his love for Nick, who returns the sentiment before he drifts off to sleep.

They are just so fixated on the imminent timeline of the end , they haven’t allowed things to progress and flourish as it naturally should. They are both afraid to trap the other. They both tiptoe around their confession of love, both too afraid to bring it up in the light of day. Nick finally brings it up and they both realize that they are on the same page and in it for the long haul. Life is sweet and they are both more confident in their future plans. This all comes crashing down when Brody receives an acceptance letter from Stanford, miles away from where Nick has his future plans set in stone.

It soon becomes clear that Brody has a misguided fear of not being good enough, not being able to measure up. He is his own worst critic. Brody is also a stubborn ass who will never admit he’s made a mistake. He has made a big mistake which he acknowledges deep down in his gut. His parents end up in California ,begging him to go back to his life and love he left behind in Texas. It is clear to his mother that his insecurities have him in it’s grips and he fears rejection most of all. His mother leaves him with words of wisdom and wishes him well. Brody knows what he needs to do before she even leaves.

In the meanwhile on the other side of the country, Nick is still trying to pick up the pieces of his shattered heart a month later. He drowns himself in his work and the many projects he had set up as lifelong goals, but he feels empty inside. He wishes he still had Brody by his side and he just knows that he will wait forever for him since he has imprinted on his soul. With the help of family and friends ,the pair is tearfully reunited. Brody grovels at Nick’s feet swooping in with grand gestures and heartfelt apologies. Nick forgives his wayward husband and welcomes him with open arms. This ends sweetly, years in their future with Nick and Brody welcoming beautiful twin boys through surrogacy carried by their best friend Addie who’s been a part of their love story from its very inception. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Contour ( Shape of You 1) by Meg Harding

Title:Contour (Shape of You 1) Word Count:200pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:Jamie “Roxy” Albright has one great love in his life and room for no other. He lives and breathes makeup. Men are nothing more than temporary distractions and romance… well, that isn’t worth his time. With a burgeoning career as a YouTube makeup artist opening doors to never before dreamed of opportunities, time isn’t something Jamie has and distractions aren’t something he can afford.

Instagram model and shirtless wonder Tyler Jackson is quickly falling for elusive Jamie. How it went from a seemingly innocent message to feelings, he’ll never know. Their chemistry is instant and fiery hot, and Tyler’s never been that good at self control. The challenges are endless, though. There’s Jamie’s walls to break through and a country worth of space between them. And just when things are starting to look up, life throws a wrench in the works.

My Review: When internet sensation Youtuber make-up artist Jamie decides to comment on an instagram photo of the model he’s been crushing on, he’s not sure what to expect. Tyler is surprised to see that the androgynous snarky make-up artist his ex girlfriend idolized has commented on his pics. Tyler is bisexual and since he’s single , he decides to see what’s what. He likes what he sees of Jamie even though their personalities are vastly different. Jamie is aloof, doesn’t give much away and is very much an ‘ice princess’. On the other hand, Tyler is the all American jock everyone loves. He is super kind, always talking to his fans and very personable. Tyler’s a dog lover and has two beautiful dogs that seem to be well loved. For some reason , this is a huge draw for Jamie.

They build up a rapport through text messages and the chemistry seems to flow between these two. Tyler knows that Jamie will be a hard nut to crack, but he just keeps on opening up , hoping that will pull Jamie in. Tyler goes for a visit to Jamie’s city and Jamie is definitely nervous wondering if things are going to get weird. For Jamie, sex is not a biggie and that’s what he tends to lead with, without the intimacy. Things are a little bit different for Tyler, he is not into one night stands, he is more of a relationship kinda guy. Things definitely get hot and heavy between the two, but Tyler also ensures that Jamie gets a proper first date. It is clear that their chemistry is off the charts, but Tyler knows that Jamie uses sex as a defense mechanism. He decides to change that, he doesn’t allow Jamie to hide behind the sex. For the first time , Jamie is exposed to intimacy and it is certainly scary but deep down inside he craves this with Tyler. Tyler sees that Jamie is freaked out the morning after, so he promises no commitments, but rather that they take things slow and see where it goes after he goes back home to Nashville.

They continue their relationship via texts. Things get downright dirty when Jamie returns the favour by visiting Nashville. Their reunion is explosive, there are no holds barred and their romp in bed is carnal and messy in the best possible way. Things get pushed in the right direction when they decide to do a makeup challenge for Jamie’s YouTube channel where he introduces Tyler to the world as his boyfriend. Their romance is absolutely a whirlwind but it works for them. Jamie meets Tyler’s best friend Dan who cautions him to take care of Tyler’s heart. Jamie is honest that he knows nothing about commitments and relationships, but he knows he wants to try with Tyler. They make further plans to backpack across Europe, after Jamie finishes up a business deal which he is signing with Lush.

Jamie opens up more to Tyler on the Nashville trip, but there is still a wall in place. When Jamie’s mom finds out about Tyler, she’s a bit negative in her advice. Jamie thinks the world of his mom, who raised him single handedly by being a stripper. It is obvious that his relationship purview has been skewed from all her negative relationship advice over the years. He has been taught to use sex for power and fun without the intimacy attachments. Their Europe trip starts off with Jamie being upset with his mom and reevaluating everything he’s always known about relationships. When Tyler calls Jamie out on his foul mood, Jamie makes the decision to open up for the first time with Tyler.

Jamie waits until they get to their hotel room to explain what’s going on. He opens up to Tyler about his past and the way his mom brought him up and some of the morals she instilled. One of the main things is to never depend on anyone and that romantic love is a choice, where you leave yourself open for heartache and pain. As he speaks the truth he has always lived, Jamie realizes how isolated a life he has been living. Tyler acknowledges where Jamie is coming from and opens up about his own addiction riddled mother who doesn’t really play a role in his life other than being a leech for his money. Tyler lets Jamie know it is okay to be scared of all these new relationship feelings he is having. He realizes that Jamie is at a crossroads , feeling conflicted about what he thought he knew about commitment and relationships.

There is one thing that Jamie is certain of , Tyler deserves to have a place in his life. He grasps what he wants, titillating Tyler with his lacy thongs. Tyler can’t get enough of this sexy man who brings out the caveman in him. Two weeks together have them seeing all sides of each other. They tour Europe doing all the cute couply things. It is inevitable that there will be some unguarded moments between them. The moment has finally arrived, Jamie goes totally bare before Tyler. Baring his face is akin to Jamie baring his soul for Tyler. Jamie never lets anyone see him without his makeup. Makeup has turned into his shining armour that protects him from all hurt and pain.Jamie lays himself vulnerable for Tyler and it’s a beautiful thing. Tyler knows in his heart he has fallen for this beautiful man, but he knows Jamie is not ready to acknowledge yet what he might be feeling.

They soon find out the true hell that a long distance relationship can be, especially between two young up and coming professionals. With their busy schedule, they can barely make time to text, much less skype. Knowing that he might lose Tyler doesn’t sit well with Jamie. That’s when he realized that love and romance with Tyler was never a choice. He has unavoidably and irrevocably fallen for this kind spirited, supportive sexy jock. Jamie lays his soul bare for Tyler professing his love. In the end, Tyler makes the decision freely of uprooting his life in Nashville to be with the man of his dreams, his true love Jamie. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.

Blurb: Brendon is too young to be letting himself go. Overweight and desperate for a change, he goes where everyone goes for advice these days, the Internet. That’s where he finds Jared. Jared has an offer too good for Brendon to pass up; a free training program to help him build his clientele. What starts out as workout routines, and meal plans, slowly turns into friendship, all before they ever meet in person. Jared may be straight but will Brendon be able to resist his sexy trainer and friend when they finally meet and spend a night out under The Bay Lights in San Francisco? Or maybe a better question is, will a confused Jared be able to resist Brendon?

My Review: When Brendon wakes up one day and realizes that he has gained way more than the standard freshman fifteen after college, he decides to make some changes. Like most of us, he heads to an internet chat room to do some research. He is approached by Jared who tells Brendon he will train him for free. With killer meal prepping and vigorous workouts, they decide to give it a try. Even though they are not in the same city, Brendon soon starts seeing changes.

There is just something about Jared, he is easy to talk to and motivates Bren like no other. It is clear that they have formed a bond that moves beyond trainer/ client. Bren looks forward to Jared’s numerous daily texts which always leaves him smiling. Bren knows this is a slippery slope, as Jared is very much straight and has a model girlfriend. When Bren’s grandmother passed away, Jared initiates a phone conversation. He is very sincere and is there for his friend. Bren feels extremely close to Jared in that moment and he is encouraged to let lose and cry.

Things progress with them watching movies and exercising together while they talk on the phone. Their relationship is very sturdy for two people who have never met in person. This adds to the mystique however. This soon changes when Jared lets Bren know he will be going to his city for a photo shoot. They are both excited to meet each other. Nothing could prepare Brendon for the sex god that walks into the cafe where they are meeting. Jared is gorgeous and oh so sexy. He is everything that Bren would like in a man. The day is surreal but the emotions between the two men is very tangible. Under the beautiful lights of SanFrancisco, it is Jared who makes the first move and kisses Brendon. It is over before they know it and awkwardness seeps in. Jared begs and chalks it up as a stupid mistake, Bren is heartbroken at his apology.

Jared goes home and the shift in their relationship is obvious. Gone is the fun filled, flirty , easy going banter. Their texts only deals with the business at hand, workouts and food log. It takes them weeks to get over the hump and not until Jared apologizes for freaking out a bit for kissing a man. As the distance recedes , they become even closer than before. Jared starts owning his attraction to Bren. Their phone calls turn sexier as the flirting ramps up. When Jared starts inquiring about gay sex, Bren knows he is in trouble. He explains what turns him on knowing that he is revealing some of his secret desires for Jared. The unknown lures Jared in and he becomes bold with his sexy pics knowing that he is turning Bren on. Their late night calls become uninhibited and phone sex operators have nothing on them. They are wild in their explorations and all that’s missing is their physical bodies. Jared soon makes the decision to take another trip.

Their weekend together is intensely good and bad. Their connection is truly out of this world, but in public Jared rejects some of the most innocent touches from Bren. Bren is hurt, but holds it all in. They have a big powwow before Jared goes home , where all the niggling doubts come forth. Jared tells Bren that he can’t turn gay for him and that’s the end of that. Jared leaves as Bren’s world implodes all around him. The silence stretches on for months and Bren is a shell of his former self.

Jared finally comes to his senses and acknowledges that he can’t live his life worrying about others’ opinions. Jared was missing a vital part of himself, his other half, his best friend. He is ready to accept his love for Bren and he doesn’t care that he is a man. Bren is afraid to accept that it is real however, but he knows he can’t live without his soul mate Jared. When they come together, it is explosive and there are no doubts about whether they were meant to be together. Ten years into the future finds them married with two children who they adore. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

P.S. For all the unconventional lovers who have found a deeper connection, before they even met in person. This one is for you. I am happy to be among the lucky few. I love my husband to pieces, but I would be scared to try the whole internet dating nowadays with some of the horror stories about online dating that you hear. I applaud everyone who has made it work. Here is to LOVE.
