Haven’s Creed by Parker Williams

Title: Haven’s Creed                    Word Count:94,000

Genre: Dark Gay Romance

Blurb: An act of violence destroys his family and ends the life he knows. To escape his haunted past, he joins the military, where, as a sniper, he is trained to kill with precision and detachment. When a covert organization offers him a new purpose, he becomes Haven, an operative devoted to protecting the innocent when he can and avenging them when he cannot.

After ten years of battling the evil in the world, the life no longer holds the attraction or meaning it once had, and he’s ready to walk away. Then he meets Samuel, a young man forced from the age of twelve to work as a sex slave. If ever a man had a need for Haven, it is this one.

Yet nothing about this growing relationship is one-sided. Sammy gives Haven a stability he’s never known, and Haven becomes the rock upon which Sammy knows he can depend.

When Sammy reveals something about the enemy Haven has been hunting for months, Sammy fears it will destroy what they’ve built and he’ll lose his home in Haven’s heart.
My Review: This is a very dark tale of the underground world of sex, innocence lost and some of the worst crimes against humanity. There is an elite group formed for when justice fails. Our main character is sent out to rid the world of the type of scum that would get off scot-free when palms are greased. He is a professional, an assassin, he is the personification of his name Haven. Haven has always been able to take care of his targets without blinking an eye, but lately when he comes home from an assignment he feels very restless. Crimes of sexual slavery are on a rise and his handler Rook appoints him as the best man for the job.

It is on one of these missions he finds a downtrodden, sorely abused boy named Sammy. Sammy is the most beautiful thing Haven has ever seen, even underneath all the grime and filth he is covered with. Sammy clings to Haven for dear life and it’s the first time Haven decides to use his safe house by taking Sammy with him. It soon becomes clear that Sammy is nervous around everyone else but Haven. Sammy looks at Haven as his protector. Haven calls in assistance from the people who take care of him on his downtime. The doctor gives Sammy a clean bill of health , despite him being a bit malnourished and scared of going outside. Kelly, the man who takes care of him while he is home notices how Sammy clings to Haven. He realizes that there is something between these two men right off the bat.

Sammy is very obvious about his attraction to Haven,  but Haven resists because he believes it’s just hero worship. Sammy blossoms before his eyes and in the weeks to come, it soon becomes clear that Sammy has an underlying strength to him.  He let’s Haven know that he will take care of him and ease the burdens of his mind. Haven comes to realize that he can rely on Sammy’s strength. Although Sammy has been  victimized , he definitely doesn’t portray a victim.  He is comfortable with Haven’s profession and accepts him for who he is. Sammy understands the purpose of Haven being an assassin and relishes the fact that his man is a protector for the innocent.

With every kill that Haven does,  he loses a piece more of his soul. Sammy becomes his rock, the one who puts him all back together when he comes home . Sammy is now his haven, something Haven thought he’d never find. They fall into a D/s relationship with Sammy being the dominant. It seems a bit strange at first , but it actually makes total sense. Sammy needs not to feel like a victim and he knows he will always be the strength for Haven.  Haven needs to checkout after a job and allow someone else to make all the hard decisions for him. Haven knows in his heart that there is no one else he would rather trust to take care of his heart and soul than Sammy. Their relationship is very intense and they take what they need from each other.

It turns out that the kingpin that Haven is hunting is Sammy’s mother Valerie. Haven can’t wait to kill her, since she is the one who sold sweet Sammy and so many other kids into sexual slavery. There is no love lost between Sammy and his mother, but he fears that Haven will never be the same after this assignment.  Sammy explains that he is a mirror image of his mother in looks. He is afraid that the similarity will tear Haven apart or hinder him from doing his job.

Sammy runs away when he sees that he can’t change Haven’s mind. Haven is hurt and despondent when  Sammy doesn’t  come home. He goes off half cocked and gets himself caught in Valerie’s trap. Valerie tries to break Haven and gives him quite a few injuries,  but Haven being the professional regains the upperhand eventually. He is just about to kill her when Sammy walks in. Sammy is trying to protect his man, he takes the gun and kills his mother without flinching.

They are both safe and they go home together, but it takes almost a year for things to go back to normal. Sammy agrees to see a therapist and work through his angst and trauma. Haven proposes and Sammy is definitely ready to take his last name. It is on their one year anniversary that Sammy finally returns to his glowing  self. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Assassin 3: Sins of the Father by Fyn Alexander

Title : Sins of the Father                Word Count :77,949

Genre : Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb : MI6 assassin, Kael Saunders, is a larger than life, dominant master who finds himself becoming a Daddy to nineteen-year-old Angel Button. Over the last year and a half Kael and Angel have settled into a loving Dom/sub relationship. But no matter how comfortable the highly intelligent and ruthless assassin and his sweet, eager, loving boy become with each other, Kael is still the boss and Angel wants him to remain so, whether in the dungeon, the bedroom, or the kitchen. Naturally submissive, Angel has learned how to be a good Daddy’s boy and a good slave, but his childlike willfulness still makes itself known now and again.

When Angel is kidnapped by an enemy of Kael’s, he’ll stop at nothing to save his boy, but his boy may have to take what he’s learned and help him.

My Review : Kael and Angel are back again, only this time the mood is a little different.  Kael has to deal with  a recalcitrant young man when he doesn’t get his own way. Angel wants to take a year off before going to university and Kael believes he knows what’s best for his boy. Kael’s boss Conran has suggested that Angel go into the service seeing as how his training  is so precise after being trained by Kael who is the best. Kael wants something totally different and better for his boy. He does not condone Angel becoming an assassin. Kael would much rather Angel go to Cambridge University and get a history degree,  but Angel feels like he can’t measure up to Kael’s esteem.

In a pique of anger, Angel runs away from his ‘Daddy’ rather than stay and be disciplined. He gets himself in serious trouble when he gets drunk and drugged in a bar. Daddy Kael is just in time to stop Angel from being raped by a man  in his fifties. Angel is very sick when he comes home and Kael takes care of him, but he is not happy about it. Angel is still being rebellious and he feels adrift on a sea of unsurity and helplessness. Kael not knowing what else to do , locks him in the cage.

Kael needs to realign his expectations for Angel and that pisses him off. Angel has always been a great sub, but at the end of the day he is still just a teenager with all these adult expectations foisted upon him. Kael learns that he can’t always control everything and Conran actually imparts some useful advice. Kael rewards Conran with a flogging and a good hard fuck with a dildo. Angel apologizes to his daddy and Kael takes him to the dungeon and uses the cane on him while he is hanging upside down  with a hood over his head. Kael knows that above all else , Angel hates the hood and that makes it a true punishment especially when he sticks a piece of gingeroot in his most sensitive place. I found this to be truly archaic,  even for Kael.

Life goes back to normal for them , but when old ghosts and secrets from Kael’s past come back to haunt him, his life is in uproar. For the first time ever, Kael gets so angry at Angel and slaps him for disclosing some parts of Kael’s past that has the potential to hurt Kael’s mom. There is one thing that is clear throughout this series, there is only two people that Kael loves above all else and that’s his mom and Angel. Angel is ashamed for disappointing his daddy, and Kael is devastated that he actually hurt Angel physically outside of their consensual meetings in the dungeon.

This incident was truly an eye opener for Kael when his mother pointed out how scared Angel is in his presence sometimes.  Kael realized for the first time that his rigidity is very off putting and causes a barrier in his relationship with Angel. He starts to understand that loosening the reins could go a far way in curbing some of Angel’s rebellious ways. Kael questions his methods and sees that he is probably stifling Angel’s  youthful exuberance in his quest for training the perfect ‘boy’. Kael apologized and treated Angel like the precious boy that he is and gives some leeway for spontaneity.  This results in a hot lovemaking session where Angel rocks his world with a ride of his life. The sexual chemistry is out of this world between these two, the sex is better than ever.

Angel schooled his daddy in how to live in the moment and just have fun, even when in his dungeon. Lots of love, discipline and a bit of leniency brought out the best in Angel. He made Kael proud by getting into Cambridge University  and Kael allows Angel the freedom to take a year off to train as an agent. Kael has really mellowed out under Angel’s tutelage in how to be more human. Kael has become a better daddy and he now proudly embraces his feelings for his boy and shows his love unrestrainedly. I give this my ratings of 5 – bring out the vibrators. Another great addition to the series,  I am never bored or dissapointed to hear about these two. Kudos to Fyn Alexander for keeping it fresh, interesting and sexy all the time.

Assassin Shifter 4: Half Moon Rising by Sandrine Gasq-Dion

Title : Half Moon Rising           Word Count :39,974

Genre : Paranormal Gay Romance

Blurb : They say you can never go home…

After more than a decade, Troy Bishop is going home to the family he left behind when his parents died. Little does Troy know, he’s about to get a lot more than he bargained for….

Sawyer Quinton has been waiting for his mate for as long as he can remember, and was beginning to think he’d never find him. Until Troy Bishop walked back onto the Reservation.

The attraction is immediate for both men, but one is hiding a secret and the other must finally open is heart.

Sometimes you can’t go back home….and sometimes when you do…you never leave.

This is the fourth book in the Assassin/Shifter stories. To fully appreciate the characters, I recommend you start with “A Marked Man” then “Alaska with Love” and finally “By the Light of the Moon”

My Review : Troy has been on mission after mission for a long time and he’s ready to head back to the reservation finally to catch up with his friends and makeshift family. His best friend Sam’s family became his second family after his family was murdered.

Sawyer has long held out hope of finding his mate and he has an idea who it might be. The day that Troy comes home, Sawyer is so excited he is unable to hold his human form. Troy is shocked to see a wolf at the meet and greet when he gets to the reservation.  He has no clue that he is actually looking at his mate. When he finally meets Sawyer the man, he sees a very strong willed, beautiful , abrasive young man who he ends up offending.

The attraction between the two is instant and soon they can’t keep their hands off each other. Shortly after making love, Sawyer shifts into his werewolf form by accident and this gets an unfavorable response from Troy. Sawyer feels as if his mate rejected him and it’s the worst kind of pain. Troy calms down after it is revealed that Sam, his best friend is also a werewolf. He apologizes to his mate and quickly gets into the swing of things finding himself falling hard for Sawyer.

Their idyllic bliss is soon interrupted when someone burns down Troy ‘ s parents house and tries to hurt Sawyer.  Troy goes into protective assassin mode and is ready to do what he does best, Kill! Troy is willing to kill, to protect Sawyer because he doesn’t want to lose his beautiful man before enjoying life with him. When the perpetrators are cornered and a fight ensues,  Troy takes a bullet that is meant for Sawyer.  His wounds are life threatening and Sawyer has no choice but to turn his mate in order to save him. Troy is happy to be turned werewolf but Sawyer feels a little guilty.  Sex with the two Werewolfs is even hotter than before.  Troy and Sawyer had great chemistry and the makings of an everlasting love. They are already planning a double wedding with Sam and Dakota. Can’t wait 😆. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.

Assassin Shifter 2- Alaska, With Love by Sandrine Gasq-Dion

Title : Alaska, With Love                      Word Count : 271 pgs

Genre : Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb : Josh Montgomery is a red-blooded American male that loves his job and loves women even more. Part of an elite team run by General Derek Jacobs, Josh and his fellow assassins take pride in their jobs. When one Assassin gig turns into a rescue mission on the side, Josh’s life is turned upside down by the man he rescues. Now, he has to take a good long look at who he really is.

With the help from his friends Mateo, Riley and Troy, Josh tries to understand what he’s feeling.

Mark Patterson joined Doctor’s without Borders to do good in a foreign country. Little did he know a maniacal drug lord would kidnap him and use him to deal drugs, among other things…. Without any hope of rescue, Mark resigns himself to his prison. Until early one morning when he’s rescued by a blonde God. Josh Montgomery is tall, light and beautiful….and straight.

Being in close quarters only makes things harder on both men, will Mark get his man? Will Josh take a chance…. In the wilds of Denali Forest the two men come together, but is it for good? Or will Mark’s past drive them apart?

My Review : From the very first moment we met Josh in book 1, we could see that he was an easygoing fun loving character even though he is an assassin.  He is one of the sexy men from the Skull Blasters squad,  who are assassins for hire. They get rid of pedophiles,  drug kingpins and flesh peddlers. It’s on one of his assignments to take down a drug kingpin, where he first sees Mark, a kidnapped doctor being brutally raped by the druglord. Josh vows to get the sexy doctor out safely. He calls for back up from his team who does the extraction  and kills the druglord without any harm to their team. Josh stays by Mark’s side and takes him to their safe house.

Josh is very confused by his growing feelings for the lovely doctor. For the first time in his life , he is attracted to a man and he is not exactly sure what to do about it. Although Mark is traumatized,  he is very attracted to Josh, but he is almost sure that a stud like that is straight. One good thing to come out of all of this is that Mark finds his long lost foster brother Mateo. Mark is all alone in the world since his parents disowned him for being gay. He is glad to have Mateo in his life again and he is truly happy to see him so in love with his husband Riley.

Being in the safe house all alone, brings forth a connection between Mark and Josh that wouldn’t otherwise be present around others. Josh is going out of his mind with the erections that keep popping up whenever he is close to Mark. He reevaluates the notion that he is straight.   He feels like an ingrate for having these feelings for someone who has been so thoroughly abused. He gives in to his attraction and kisses Mark with all the pent up passion he has inside. Then he leaves Mark hanging, with Mark wondering if he is being rejected because he has been tainted by his abusers.

Josh runs away to his cottage in Alaska where he is helping a friend to preserve the wolf wildlife and rescue them from hunters. In the meantime,  Mark resumes his job as a doctor and goes to therapy sessions to deal with his trauma. After a few weeks,  he comes up with a plan to go and get back his man. He goes all the way to Alaska alone. When Josh sees him , he is ecstatic and worried at the  half frozen state that Mark is in. Josh nurses him back to health and they make up for lost time by indulging in conversations and a whole lot of sex. This is a new experience for Josh and he is definitely open to all possibilities.  Their sex life is super hot and it solidifies in their mind how much they need each other. Their relationship continues to grow exponentially and passionately. Mark becomes very comfortable with how their lives are  entwined.  He even gets close to the wildlife and gets comfortable with a wolf called Dakota.

Mark  and Josh’s happiness almost comes to a screeching halt when they find out that Mark’s ex boyfriend was behind his kidnapping and is still out to get him. Josh goes into assassin mode and eliminates all threats to his future husband. Josh finds his perfect hero in his sexy assassin.  I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.

Assassin Shifter 1: A Marked Man by Sandrine Gasq-Dion

Title : A Marked Man                  Word Count :225 pgs

Genre : Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb : Mateo Esposito loves his job. Hired assassin for the U.S. Government, he takes lives and he kicks ass with no mercy. When a job lands in his lap that’s just not quite right, Mateo finds himself questioning orders for the first time in his career. Who would have known he’d be undone by a purple hippo…

Riley Flynn is CEO of Flynn Electronics. Deep in his closet, Riley wonders what it would feel like to be with a man. When his path crosses with Mateo’s, their lives will never be the same.

Because, Riley is Mateo’s next target…

This book contains explicit sexual situations, graphic language, and material that some readers may find objectionable: male/male sexual practices, violence.

My Review : Mateo Esposito is a sexy ass marksman for the A- team. He always acquires his target and he shoots to kill. He is on a special team with his friends hired by the government to take out lowlifes like rapists , pedophiles,  sex traffickers and all manner of evil. Mateo doesn’t have a steady home or boyfriend,  he prefers to take his comfort in whatever hookups he finds for the night. Mateo is very detailed and he always does his homework on his targets before killing them. He also follows his spider senses, that has saved his life a time or two.

When he gets the dossier on Riley Flynn,  the  young attractive CEO of an electronics company,  their is nothing outright that he can see that proclaims him as scum. Mateo follows Riley around and plants listening devices in his home and office and still can’t see anything wrong. He follows Riley to the back room of a gay bar and determines  that is one of his secrets. He loses sight of Riley in the back room when he gets sidetracked by the best blowjob ever from an unknown man. He goes home and fantasizes about the best mouth ever, wishing that he could have a repeat performance.

On the day that he decides to take down Riley,  someone else starts shooting at his target. He saves Riley’s life and takes him to their safe house. Riley is definitely uncomfortable with Mateo knowing that he was originally sent to kill him. On the other hand , he is extremely attracted to Mateo and feels really safe in his presence.  Riley and Mateo are evenly matched and they realize that they have a great connection with each other.  Their attraction really comes to the fore when Riley realized that  Mateo was the hot guy he sucked off in the back room and been dreaming of ever since.

Riley brings out Mateo’s sweet side and he wants to protect  Riley with all that he’s got. Mateo shows Riley the freedom of being loved by a man. Although they are on the run for their lives, they found a special love with each other that they never imagined ever having with anyone.Their newfound love is tested when their enemies kidnap and torture Riley. Mateo and his team does everything to get Riley back safe and sound.  Mateo and Riley make plans for their future and they both yearn to have a big family, something that neither of them had in the past. Their connection was undeniably strong and their lovemaking was incredibly passionate and sexy. I loved every minute of it. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.
