Facing West: A Forever Wilde Novel by Lucy Lennox

Title: Facing West                   Word Count: 300 pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:Nico
I left my family and tiny Texas hometown fifteen years ago to escape small-town gossips and to give my mom and sister the chance at a better life. But when a phone call from an attorney back home informs me that my sister passed away, leaving me custody of her newborn baby, I’m shocked out of the steady life I’ve built for myself running a tattoo shop in San Francisco.

The thing is: I don’t do babies. And I don’t do small towns. Or commitment. And I especially don’t do family. My plan is to go back to Hobie just long enough to sign adoption papers, giving my niece the kind of stable, loving family I could never provide.

But the moment I meet my niece in the arms of Weston Wilde, my sister’s best friend and the town’s handsome doctor, my plans begin to change. Because suddenly, I see a different future. One with the very thing I thought I never deserved: a family. If only I can convince West that I’m not the same good-for-nothing kid ready to bolt when things get tough.

Weston
There’s one thing I know for sure about Nico Salerno: he was a good-for-nothing as a kid and judging by the purple-haired, tattoo’d punk who shows up at his sister’s funeral, he hasn’t changed. There’s no way I’m letting him take custody of my best friend’s baby.

But the more time I spend around him, the more I realize that his rough exterior is just a shell and that beneath all the tattoos is a scared, insecure man searching for a place to belong. And pretty soon I know exactly where he belongs: in my bed and by my side.

The problem is, he abandoned his family once before, how do I know that if we become a family he won’t do it again?

Facing West is the first in the new Forever Wilde series about the huge Wilde family from Hobie, Texas, whose patriarchs aren’t above a little meddling if that’s what it takes to help their grandkids find true love.

My Review: Nico Salerno has his own life far away from the small town of Hobie, Texas. He owns his tattoo shop and has been making his own way for the last 15 years without any contact from his family. Colour him shocked when he gets a phone call from a lawyer saying his sister has died and he needs to settle her affairs. He is heartbroken for a sister he believed hated him. There are a lot of feelings swirling around inside of him, at the very top being anger at the town and at the people he believed hated and resented him for being gay and abandoning his family.

Resentment is strongest coming from the esteemed Dr. Weston Wilde, his sister Adriana’s best friend. West sees a tattooed punk who only cares about himself and abandoned his family. He is worried that the same fate is about to happen to the precious 4 month old Pippa, Nico’s niece. Nico states clearly that he knows nothing about babies. From the very beginning, there is tension between Nico and West. West has his preconceived notions about Nico and Nico hates the fact that West judges him unfairly without knowing his story.

It soon becomes apparent that the two are attracted to each other. West doesn’t want to want this man who he knows is itching to leave everything and everybody from their small town. After witnessing Nico in confrontation with the closeted town sheriff Curt who is also his step brother , West goes to check on him. What he finds is a broken-hearted Nico who cries for his sister and his mother who he’s only learnt recently passed away years ago. Nico is faced with many regrets from his past. There is a tender moment between Nico and West when West offers him comfort and dulls his loneliness for just a moment.

Once West sees this side of Nico, all his protective instincts come to the surface and the attraction he held at bay can no longer be curtailed. When he decides to go after what he wants, Nico responds favorably to his dominance. Their night is filled with intense passion with moments of vulnerability on both their parts. They both realize that the journey they are about to embark on is not only about sex. With Pippa involved and both of them invested in her, things get real pretty fast.

They both realize that they make a good team and a familial bond is definitely being formed between them and Pippa. Nico starts reconciling the sister he knew with the one that West describes. He starts to realize that his sister apparently grew up and was respected by many in their small town. He regrets missing out on the relationship that could have been. This realization makes it even harder to think about leaving Pippa to be adopted by strangers. Their comfortable domesticity soon comes to a halt when disturbing information about Pippa’s father comes to light.

West is the father, at least that’s what the birth certificate states. Nico is shattered when he hears the news and doesn’t even allow West to plead his case. West is clueless as to why he is listed as Pippa’s father. He can only speculate as to why his best friend Adrianna would do that. He just wants to make it clear to the man he’s falling for that he never slept with his sister.

Nico does what he does best, he runs. It becomes hard for Nico to acclimate to his past life. He has been back for weeks , but his whole life feels so empty until West shows up at his tattoo shop. West claims his man in front of his friends. He expresses his love for Nico and for the first time Nico feels like he belongs. Nico goes back home to his small town Hobie, a place he now realize has always been in his blood. They know they will face challenges, but with the help of the Wildes, they will make it. I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.

Terms of Service (The Heretic Dom’s Club 2) by Marie Sexton

Title: Terms of Service Word Count:398 pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:Dr. River McKay moved to Denver with his husband, Terrence, hoping to give their failing marriage a new start. A year later, Terrence is gone and River’s left brokenhearted. Now, he’s decided it’s time to get back in the game. A chance encounter at the hospital introduces him to Phil, a strong-willed pharmacist who isn’t impressed by River’s degree.

Phil can’t deny his attraction to River, but dating is out of the question. Phil only does one kind of relationship — domestic servitude, where he gives the orders and his partner obeys. To his surprise, River agrees — not because he likes the idea, but because anything’s better than being alone.

They know the arrangement won’t last. Phil’s set in his ways and incapable of showing affection outside the bedroom. River’s unused to obedience and still in love with his ex. But their time together will change them, making them question everything they thought they knew about love, control, and relationships. When the unexpected threatens to tear them apart, they’ll have to choose between the comforts of the past and a future they can only find together.

My Review: After his marriage ends in a most disastrous way, Doctor River is left floundering. Although his husband cheated on him and is now dating a surgeon at the hospital where they all work, River still misses and loves his cheating ex Terrence. To alleviate some of the awkwardness, River works the graveyard shifts in the emergency room. River’s life is at a standstill and he feels like a pathetic human being without a purpose outside of work. That is until he meets Phil.

Phil is a pharmacist at the hospital where River works. After an extremely stressful night in the ER, Phil refuses to fill a prescription for one of River’s patients. Needless to say, their first meeting doesn’t go so well as River sees Phil as a challenge to his authority. River pulls out all his cockiness, deciding to show Phil who is boss. That is until Phil points out very calmly and slightly mocking that the prescription conflicts with the patient and could have eventually resulted in a heart attack with prolonged use. River is penitent and apologizes to Phil when he sees that his slip up could have caused harm.

The next time River sees Phil, he goes out of his way to mend fences. He starts up a conversation and one thing leads to another leading them to talk about the debacle that is now River’s life.Phil suggests hook up sites such as Growlr to River. River decides to check it out, but he chickens out on his first two dates. When he comes across Phil’s profile, he sets up a date thinking that familiarity will work in his favor. Phil is definitely surprised to see River at his door. Right away Phil lets the bigger man know what he is into. Phil is a Dom who subscribes to the BDSM principle of domestic servitude. River is slightly unsure, but intrigued nonetheless. Soon their unlikely arrangement begins.

Phil eases River into the lifestyle gently. He is very militant in his practices and he has 2 very important rules. First rule is that River has to obey all his orders explicitly and secondly River should never touch him. Phil is very clear about their arrangement, it is not to be considered a relationship, because that is something he cannot provide. There will be sex, intimacy and certainly pleasure, but that will be all.As a Dom Phil is as cold as ice and he is borderline OCD. However, his rules are in place due to his past experiences. It soon becomes clear that Phil has a lot of baggage, something that has caused him to become emotionally stunted.

As the weeks go on, Phil pushes some of River’s limits. River finds freedom in being chained and collared. He relishes serving his ‘Teacher’ and his inner exhibitionist is set free. River is introduced to Phil’s friends at their poker night. He is turned on when he sees Dom Gray getting a blowjob from Dom Warren’s submissive Taylor. He realises that he would love switching places with Taylor. When Phil sees River’s interest, he suggests setting up a scene where River will be used by his friends when its his turn to host poker night.

Things are going great for them, when River has a run in with Terrence who wants him to sign their divorce papers. River is at an all time low and indulges in too much Scotch. He forgets one of the main rules and touches Phil as a way of seeking validation. Phil pushes him away and warns him about their agreement. Resentment starts building for River as he realizes that this arrangement is almost one sided. He sees Phil as a cold fish in his time of need and the domestic servitude doesn’t seem as intriguing anymore. Even though he is ready to give up, he begs Phil for a drop of reassurance. Phil remains stoic and gives River ‘recess’. This leaves River alone to question if this is something he can really live with. He knows deep down that Phil will forever hold back a part of himself.

Before he can continue, he seeks advice from one of Phil’s friends, Dom Charlie. Charlie explains that Phil is a complicated character, but he can see that he values River by the fact that he has been introduced to his friends. Charlie emphasizes that River needs to be patient and reshape his thinking if he wants to be with Phil for the long haul. Charlie explains that River has to look for the underlying nuances to gain insight into Phil’s true feelings. Phil is definitely not unperturbed by River’s absence. It soon becomes clear that he just doesn’t know how to express what he feels. River goes back willingly and is fervent in his dedication to continue his domestic servitude.

River comes with his own set of baggage. He has hang-ups about bottoming which usually results in the embodiment of impotence. They have gotten hot and sweaty many times, but never as far as penetration. Phil decides to make that happen after allowing his friends to have many orgasmic rounds with River on poker night. River is super blissful and exhausted by the time they are alone. It’s closest he’s ever felt to anyone and it is truly a memorable moment.

To the outside world their increased closeness would not be apparent, but this is definitely true in the days following ‘recess’. They go camping and River sees a different more caring side to Phil when his impotence rears its ugly head again. River gets the best part of Phil when he switches up the dynamics and gives him the trust of bottoming for River. Phil is laid bare in all his vulnerability. His austere facade disappears as he opens up emotionally, blooming with passion. Their weeklong camping trip brings about a sense of peace and River has never seen ‘Teacher’ so relaxed. River loves this version of what they have and embraces belonging to Phil. They are definitely closer than they were, but rather than leaving with a renewed resolve. It leaves a whole bunch of unanswered questions for Phil to sort through his head. River sees that Phil needs space so he heads home. That’s where he finds his ex Terrence ensconced in their home waiting for him.

Things have gone south for Terrence after his lover gets charged for stealing pills from the hospital. He is now home for good with apologies rolling off his tongue and his smug attitude. River is faced with all he ever wanted from the moment Terrence walked out, but It leaves him confused and needing to talk to Phil. As soon as he explains to Phil, Phil sets him free . In his own way Phil is devastated, but he knows this is a choice that River has to willingly make. River wanted Phil to fight for him, but that’s not Phil’s style. River goes home and Phil turns to the comfort of his friends.

River tries to move on with Terrence who wants to know details about his relationship with Phil. River just glosses over the surface, saying that Phil likes control in bed. Even that is too much, it feels disloyal to talk about Phil and expose his lifestyle to Terrence’s possible ridicule. After about a week River sees the truth, the fact that Terrence has not changed and he is still the same conniving, selfish person he has always been. He finds out that Terrence intercepted a letter sent by Phil. When he reads the letter, he sees through Phil’s soul and he realized that maybe he doesn’t need Phil to fight for him, maybe he needs to be the one to fight for Phil. Phil lays himself bare and finally River understands the nuances that points to love. Phil has always been patient, giving and allowing River to be himself without ridicule or recriminations. Without hesitation River packs his stuff and goes home to kneel before his ‘teacher’. Phil is overcome with love and even though he is the teacher, he knows finally what it means to belong. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear. It is a very unorthodox relationship, certainly not for everyone, but the love ,trust and vulnerability that shines through is embedded on my heart.

Omega on the Loose ( The Rogue Pack 6) by Samantha Cayto

Title: Omega on the Loose Word Count:195 pgs
Genre: Paranormal Gay Romance/ Mpreg

Blurb:For a shifter, and an omega at that, Reed has never fit into pack life. Popping out pups and keeping house for a bossy male isn’t in his plans. He dreams of exploring a wider world and experiencing all the interesting things that humans have devised. Too bad his sire has other ideas, and Reed’s wishful thinking turns into a desperate bid for freedom. When a foreign beta picks him up on the road, he fears his future is doomed.
Daniel is the rare shifter who has transitioned out of pack life and into the hustle and bustle of human society. His carefully crafted life was already turned upside down once by rescuing an abused omega. Now he’s racing to save Reed from a similar fate. Pure luck, or maybe the will of the Gods, have brought him to the boy before his sire sells him off to the highest bidder. His only problem is in convincing Reed to trust him.
Time is not on Daniel’s side and when Reed’s pack catches up with them, there is only one option on the table. He can only hope that the omega forgives him for taking it. When duty turns unexpectedly into desire, he sets about wooing the pretty boy. Mistrustful and defiant, Reed resists until Daniel’s plan of seduction proves too tempting. But there is a secret between them and revealing it could doom their growing affection.

My Review: Reed has always hated every aspect of his omega nature. Watching his mother being at his father’s beck and call, her only purpose being to breed more pups year after year. Seeing his older Omega brother Ben traded to a Gamma for an old beat up barely running truck. Reed knows it’s his turn and his fate is no different. He has been promised to another pack’s Gamma Clayton for a truck as well. Clayton is cruel and has promised untold horrors of the mated bed. Reed decides to run away and take his chances in the human world.

Ben has been worried about his younger Omega brother for some time. After hearing the story of how Ben left his pack and ended up in the city, Daniel, the Beta who saved Ben decides to alleviate some of his mental stress. Daniel volunteers to find Ben’s brother and bring him to the Rogue Pack. When Daniel sees an Omega walking at a brisk pace trying to leave pack lands, he immediately knows that it’s Reed. Reed doesn’t trust the stranger who offers him a ride, but he knows the possible pain of rejecting a Beta’s offer. The Beta Daniel seems somehow different than the members of his pack, but he knows he can’t trust in that.

It is when Daniel mentions Ben and starts reassuring Reed that he is ok, that Reed feels a ray of hope. That hope is soon squashed when his pack catches up to them within the night. Desperate times calls for drastic measures, Reed offers up his virginity to the Beta, hoping that the pack will no longer want him. Daniel understands that this is their only way out, just a tiny problem, they have only minutes to get the deed done. Daniel mounts Reed and breaches him dry, he feels bad for hurting the poor Omega , but there is no time for finesse. Reed’s alpha father breaks down the door and he’s furious at what he sees.

Daniel has to put on a facade and act like he doesn’t care about the Omega in order to strike a bargain with the avaricious alpha. Daniel is not a typical Beta who is embroiled in pack life. He enjoys his freedom and has assimilated to the creature comforts of the human world. He uses his street smarts to strike a deal. He offers the alpha the internet as a way of bringing his pack into the 21st century. Most packs live a very basic life and the alpha sees this as a way of feeling like a bigshot alpha over other dominants. The alpha accepts , but decides to keep them on a tight leash.

Daniel understands that this pack is way different from his birth pack or the Rogue pack. Omegas have no rights here and are treated as merely slaves. Outdated traditions stands firm and punishment is meted out for the slightest infractions. Having run away, Reed is sentenced by his father to be whipped. As much as he hates to see this, Daniel knows the only way is to placate the alpha and try to control the situation by handling the punishment himself. Reed is used to being whipped and he can obviously tell the difference, he realizes that the Beta is pulling up on the down stroke to lessen the impact of the blows. Reed makes it look good , caterwauling for the dominants’ masochistic voyeurism.

Daniel soothes the Omega in the privacy of their quarters. He knows their only chance is to keep up the facade of him being an almost cruel Beta. The men in this pack equates strength and dominance to cruelty and brutality. To show any kindness to an Omega is akin to weakness. Reed senses the kindness within the Beta and it confuses him. He is constantly at war with his nature. He finds himself wanting to please the Beta and this sticks in his craw as it goes against everything he believes in. Another thing that puzzles Reed is his body’s reactions to Daniel giving him pleasure. He comes from a world where Omegas are there for the dominants’ taking and receive nothing in return. Their road is definitely not an easy one , but by the time they leave pack lands , they’ve formed a modicum of trust.

On the way to the Rogue Pack , Daniel allows Reed the pleasures of the human world. Reed gets to experience the ocean and eating in restaurants. It’s all he has ever imagined, but Daniel remains firm that it’s certainly not a place for an Omega. Daniel’s view on pack life has not changed, it is not for him and he just can’t see an Omega living outside of a pack. He feels a pull towards Reed, but he knows the Omega is not for him. Reed still doesn’t want a mate, but he wishes he could enjoy this new world with Daniel and this new sense of freedom.

Even though the Rogue Pack is different in so many ways and its foundation is steeped in love. Reed feels encumbered by pack life as soon as he steps foot on their land. Keeping Reed away from Lorcan the virile Rogue Pack Alpha is paramount to holding off Reed’s heat. Daniel is worried that it will be similar to Ben’s. Speaking of Ben, Reed is very happy to see his brother again, but that happiness comes crashing down soon. Reed has only just found out that Daniel also serviced his brother during his heat. He feels hurt and betrayed that his Beta has been with his brother sexually. Insecurities rare its head and Reed worries that he was only second best after all.

Finally, Daniel knows it’s time to step up and own his feelings to allay the fears up his Omega. He professes his love for Reed and encourages him to be honest about what he wants. Reed also knows it’s time to start acting like an adult and like a forward thinking human. Reed tells him how much he loves him and would like to be not only his mate, but also his husband in the human tradition. They come up with a plan to get through Reed’s heat which is fast approaching , then they can set out to live their lives in the city. Luckily, it’s winter time and Reed uses his jackets to hide his ever growing baby bump. He is happy exploring his newfound freedom with a husband who allows him to be the Omega he was always meant to be. They keep in touch with the Rogue Pack with the technology that Daniel has provided for them. Reed is overjoyed when he receives a picture message of Ben’s newborn baby who turns out to be a white wolf like Carr. This goes a long way in strengthening the bond between Carr ,Ben, Daniel and now Reed. Reed is certainly happy that his husband is not the father of his brother’s baby and looks forward to having his own pup soon. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Omega in the Middle ( The Rogue Pack 5) by Samantha Cayto

Title: Omega in the Middle Word Count: 176 pgs
Genre: Paranormal Gay Romance/ Mpreg

Blurb: Sold by his sire, Ben is an abused omega forced to sell his body for money. His rescuer comes in the unlikely form of a beta living among humans by choice, and who has no intention of exploiting Ben. Now the beta has brought him to the Rogue Pack for adoption. While Ben is happy to be safely tucked within a protective pack, it means facing his destiny as a breeding shifter.

Daniel loves the life he’s carved out in the human world. He doesn’t want to go back to living in a pack, but recognizes that he has to take care of the vulnerable omega he’s rescued. The plan is to find the mysterious Rogue Pack that he’s heard of, leave Ben in their capable hands, and return to his comfortable life. That was the plan, but something about the fetching Ben is causing him to drag his feet.

Carr is tired of living the life of a feral shifter. He followed his friends without hesitation into the wild, but now he has a chance to become part of a new pack. The arrival of a sweet and available omega gives him a reason for joining the Rogues for good. The only problem is the irritating beta who doesn’t seem inclined to give Carr a clear path to claiming Ben.

With everything he’s endured, Ben isn’t sure about taking a mate. Although he knows he can’t stop his heat, he’s determined to breed first and worry about mating later. Make that never. Except his nature has other ideas. His heat is coming fast and hard, not giving him the time to decide which of the two dominant shifters he wants to breed him.

Daniel, Carr and Ben are three shifters thrown together in a primal dance that’s designed for two. They are going to have to find a way to work together, or risk Ben’s very life.

My Review: Shifters prefer to ignore the trappings of human society for the most part. Daniel is very different in that respect. He is inundated in the human world where he owns his own small business and apartment. Being a Beta , he could have been on the council to his Alpha father’s pack. However, he has chosen to give it all up and make his own way. He is surprised when he stumbles on an Omega being abused by a Gamma in the city one night. The scene paints a clear picture and his wolf lets him know that they are not mated. Daniel comes to the rescue of Ben the Omega and takes him home with him.

Ben is an Omega who has been taught that his worth is in spreading his legs for a more dominant shifter. He was traded to the Gamma for an old truck by his Alpha father. All he has known in his life so far is abuse and neglect. He is scared to be going home with this strong Beta and he doesn’t expect much better from this new situation. Ben is shocked when Daniel offers him the use of his shower and makes him dinner. After eating his fill, he awaits the terrifying experience that he thinks will come. He is baffled when the Beta doesn’t demand payment in the form of his body. Ben is poised on a knife’s edge even into the next day.

Daniel is certainly not blind and he is even enticed by the Omega’s body. However, he resists temptation as he knows he is not willing to change his living situation. He does his research and finds a viable pack he believes will work for the Omega. He is pleasantly surprised to see that the Rogue pack actually exists. Daniel is received by a force to be reckoned with in the form of a Gamma who is chasing a wayward Omega. Being the saviour that he is , Daniel faces off with Carr , the Gamma who he believes to be torturing an Omega. He is soon set straight by an even more formidable force Alpha Lorcan.

Daniel and Ben are welcomed in the pack when the Alpha realized that Daniel was only protecting the mischievous Omega Loki even though he doesn’t know him. Alpha Lorcan respects that and suspects that Daniel is an upstanding Beta. The Omegas welcome Ben with open arms while Daniel and Alpha Lorcan discuss how to take care of Ben’s upcoming heat. It soon becomes clear that Carr would be a very willing volunteer in mounting the sweet Omega. There is something about the Omega Ben that makes Carr want to shrug off the last of his feral status and embrace pack life. Daniel and Carr are definitely combative towards each other especially when they both realize they are vying for the same position of breeding Ben. Ben enjoys being fawned over by these two virile men who shows him how much they care at every opportunity.

There is certainly a conundrum here: (1) Daniel is interested, but he knows he can’t withstand the trappings of pack life (2) Carr is even more interested, but he is not yet a part of the pack (3) the biggest problem of all is Ben, he has been used and abused and never been afforded agency over his own body. He knows for sure he doesn’t want a mate, but his heat is fast approaching and it’s inevitable. He needs to be mounted and bred or he could die, that’s the curse of the Omega. When his heat hits, Carr and Daniel are left with the decision of what to do for the desperate Omega. They find themselves working together as a unit with only one goal in mind, being there for Ben and taking care of his every need. They both realize at the same time that Ben’s heat is somehow abnormal as he is in pain and craving more than the normal Omega. Desperate times call for desperate measures, it takes both of them to satisfy the needy Omega in an unconventional three way. It takes days for Ben’s heat to end in pregnancy. They are not sure who is the sire of the unborn pup, but they all agree that the important thing is that both Ben and the pup will be well loved.

When trouble comes knocking, all the dominants step up to fight the rival pack. Even the Omegas get in on the action. They’ve won this battle, but Carr is severely injured. Daniel helps out with a blood transfusion and prays that the Gamma will recover. Its at that moment that the Beta realize that they have a bond forged in taking care of their Omega. Also, it is that moment that Ben comes to the realization that he can’t live without Carr and he now wished that they were mated. He loves them both, but he knows his heart only belongs to Carr. Daniel wakes up first only to hear Ben’s declaration of love for Carr. Daniel assures Ben that he is not hurt and only wants what’s best for the Omega.

Finally, Carr is awake and healing nicely. He is ecstatic when the Omega professes his love and the need to be mated. There is a small niggling doubt though that he might be second best, only because Daniel is going back to the city. Carr’s fear is laid to rest when they come together in their mated bed. The way the Omega responds to him and craves his touch could hardly be faked. Ben is ready to be possessed by this dominant shifter. Their bond is certainly unique ad in the background of their minds they can both sense Daniel due to the blood transfusion. The Omega’s tears flow freely when Daniel goes back home, but he knows he is only a phone call away. Moreover, he has the undying love of his Gamma Carr who has promised to love and cherish him. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Taming the Omega ( The Rogue Pack 4) by Samantha Cayto

Title: Taming the Omega Word Count: 158 pgs
Genre: Paranormal Gay Romance/ Mpreg

Blurb:New Rogue Pack gamma Caleb has finally found a decent alpha to follow and a group of shifters he is proud to protect. Having seen how losing his mother during whelping shattered his sire, he is determined to live his life only in service to others. He has no intention of giving his heart to a mate and pups. But his life is turned upside down when he spies a feral omega running loose on the pack lands.

Seth is a desperate omega struggling to survive. Puphood in his old pack taught him that his destiny was miserable servitude to whatever higher-ranking shifter ultimately claimed him. Running away seemed the better choice, except omegas are not meant to live on their own. A year of aimless wandering has left his life hanging by a thread.

Fate throws Caleb and Seth together. While they both try to cling to the lives they have embraced, they are about to learn that sometimes your path is chosen for you. Time is running out, and an old enemy may alter their futures forever.

My Review: Caleb is the newest gamma in the Rogue Pack. Gammas as are known for their strength and aggression. They are usual big and most are defenders and fighters of their pack. Caleb has been recently recruited from a Canadian Pack and he is ready to prove his worth and loyalty to satisfy his probationary period in his new pack. Caleb is loving his new pack and in his short time he has come to respect his Alpha Lorcan. Lorcan is a very virile, dominant male, but he is fair and doesn’t feel the need to throw his dominance around. Overall, this new pack of cast off shifters is very relaxed.

It is while patrolling their borders that Caleb first sets eye on an Omega. The Omega seems very scrawny and almost feral. It is clear that this Omega has been on his own for sometime and unprotected. Before Caleb can get too close, the Omega becomes spooked and runs off into a rivaling pack territory. Going into Haldon’s territory is something Caleb can’t afford to risk. He gives up the chase and goes home. He is still troubled about the Omega and mentions it to the alpha. Alpha Lorcan gives Caleb permission to find the Omega and bring him back to their pack. Lorcan believes that Omegas are very valuable and he can’t resist protecting one in need.

When Caleb finds the Omega he is injured after having had a run in with some of Haldon’s Gammas. The Omega Seth is very wary of the Gamma who introduces himself as Caleb, but he can’t resist the command in the Gamma’s voice. However, it is clear that although Caleb is dominant , he is not cruel. Caleb does his best to nurse him back to health and feeds him. Caleb is shocked when he wakes up to a warm wet mouth pleasuring him and it doesn’t take long to finish him off. Caleb is torn, because as much as the act was pleasurable, he doesn’t want Seth to feel pressured to repay him in this way. Caleb outlines this to Seth who finds this contrary to the experience he had in his old pack where being an Omega meant being used and abused.

After a few days of healing, Caleb speaks to Seth about heading back to the pack.Seth is hesitant and given his experience which Caleb suspects has been harsh, he gently coax him. When Seth meets alpha Lorcan for the first time, he is genuinely terrified. This has Caleb’s wolf baring his teeth, preparing to protect his Omega at all cost.Caleb is confused at the feelings this Omega evokes as he is not looking for a mate. Caleb has issues with mating and having pups since he saw how distraught his father became after losing his mate, Caleb’s mother. Seth is still unsure about settling with this pack, even though they have been nothing but kind to him. The decision is soon taken out of his hands when trouble comes knocking.

The rival pack comes demanding restitution from Alpha Lorcan for the breach in their territory. The Alpha assumes responsibility for Seth and pays them with goods. Seth feels horrible that this pack is paying for his mistake. Seth knows he can’t leave now as he feels indebted to the pack. After having weighed the pros and cons , he decides it is definitely not a bad idea. He is tired of running and he knows he can’t survive on his own. One of the cons is that he knows being around such a virile Alpha will bring on his heat. When Omegas are in heat, they turn into mindless beings until the time they become impregnated. Seth decides to control this eventuality, by requesting Caleb’s stud service in advance. The idea leaves Caleb very much on board and aroused, but he thinks of the future knowing he will not be able to just ‘hit it and quit it’ with this Omega. Caleb offers the solution of becoming Seth’s mate instead and Seth humbly accepts.

They are both thrown into Seth’s heat and the intensity of the cravings take over. Seth is mindless and can’t seem to get enough of Caleb. Caleb does his best to take care of his Omega and is victorious when Seth’s heat ends suddenly with a pregnancy. Seth comes out from the fog of his heat with ambivalent feelings. He is grateful to the Gamma, his mate, but he also feels cheated by his Omega body. He is incensed at his body’s natural betrayal and feels like there is a yoke around his neck being mated. Caleb realizes that his mate needs some space, but he is confident that being mated took care of all their problems.

Duty calls and Caleb has to leave for awhile to recruit some feral shifters from Canada. He leaves his mate in good hands and set off on his journey to increase the pack numbers. Surprisingly, Caleb finds himself missing his Omega mate and can’t wait to get back to him to solidify the budding romance. It takes longer than Caleb expects to gain the group’s trust- a Beta, two Gammas and an Omega. Caleb has to act fast when he hears his Omega’s distress call through their bond. He acts fast, knowing he needs to get back to his mate. He gets the Ferals to go home with him and is greeted by Seth who is happy to see him, but clearly in poor health. Seth almost had a miscarriage and has been put on bed rest. This scares Caleb into acknowledging the love he feels for his mate.

They both realize how much they mean to each other. Even though they have been apart, they are ready to embrace what they are feeling and strengthen their mate bond. Not only has Caleb proven himself as a mate, he has gained additions to the pack in the form of the feral shifters. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Livingston (Trenton Security 1) by J.M. Dabney

Title: Livingston Word Count:186 pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:He was the Beast without the escape clause.

Francis “Liv” Livingston was a beast. No matter if he wore a perfectly tailored suit or if he was in his tactical gear, people avoided looking at him. He was always first to volunteer for the jobs only a person with a death wish wanted. Tomorrows weren’t guaranteed. His boss had come to him and told him he needed him for a job. Linus knew the jobs he liked, but when he opened the file, it all went to hell.

Beauty was only skin deep.

Fielding Haskell made his way in the world on his looks. He’d earned his first film role before he could read a script. He didn’t want the fame. He wanted to go to college. He wanted a man who didn’t look at him and see how pretty he was. Unfortunately, a so-called fan only cared how attractive he was, and it earned him a personal bodyguard and a vacation. He looked forward to the break until he met the man in charge of his safety and wondered if the danger he left was worth dealing with a sudden attraction to a man who was colder than ice.

My Review: Liv has lived in the shadows, ever since he was a boy and his crazy cultish mother lit his bed on fire. He has burn scars on 75 percent of his body.Liv’s always stood apart from the rest of the Trenton Crew and the other Crews, even though they are a brotherhood in every sense of the word. He knows compared to his crazy handsome counterparts, he is the ‘beast’ of the lot. With all the Crews pairing up lately and raising families, he holds out no hope that will be his future. Liv takes all the suicide missions that his boss Linus hands out and he loves his solitude. From the moment he lays eyes on Fielding Haskell he knows he’s in trouble.

Fielding Haskell is an up and coming movie star who is in need of protection from a stalker. His parents want to protect their interests in their meal ticket. They try to control all aspects of Fielding’s life especially his weight gain. Fielding is practically half starved in Liv’s opinion. He is petite and androgynous and something in his demeanor calls to the dominant in Liv. Liv tries to be professional, because he knows there is no sense in an attraction between them. After all he is the ‘beast’. How could the most beautiful man love him or could he?

Fielding is intrigued with the man named Liv. He sees his scars and feels empathy for the pain he must have endured. Fielding is a very tactile person and all he wants to do is to touch the scars to feel the smoothness against his cheek. He wants to feel the hair that grows on only the one side of Liv’s body. Fielding feels an attraction to the big sexy gruff man who he knows is off limits. Being enclosed in Liv’s rustic cabin allows Fielding to feel a sense of freedom he has never known. He instinctively defers to Liv’s dominance and trusts him to do what’s best for him. Liv gets a taste of what it would mean having a ‘boy’ of his own for the first time. Can he have an ‘ever after’ like all his other paired up brothers?

When Liv goes on a mission and leaves Fielding alone , he gets a true understanding of the responsibility of being in a relationship. All he can think about is returning safely home to his ‘boy’. Having a gun shoved in his face, certainly put things in perspective for him. Once he gets home, in spite of his insecurities, Liv knows he needs Fielding for however short-lived it will be. Liv surprises Fielding with an induction to the crews on their Sunday bike ride. Fielding feels so free and safe with Liv. Liv opens up about his scars while Fielding talks about how he is a prisoner in his own everyday life. Fielding shares his dreams of wanting to be a normal person without restrictions on his diet or actions. Their idyllic bliss is interrupted when they receive a new note from Fielding’s stalker. Liv is furious and it drives him crazy to think he might have put his boy in danger. They come up with the ruse of faking Fielding’s death to draw out his stalker.

Liv knows this is the time to make Fielding his in every sense of the word. His daddy is certainly not gentle and he relishes the feelings and all the passion. Fielding embraces every bit of pain, because he knows he is seeing the true Liv. Fielding offers up his virginity freely , because he knows he’ll never find another Liv. It makes him sad his daddy doesn’t want to keep him, but he doesn’t push for more. Fielding lives in the moment and the passion between the two is incendiary.

Fielding is worried about the man he thinks of as his ‘daddy’ when the team notices that Liv is not checking in. Their feelings overwhelm them as soon as Liv walks through the door, he is jumped by his boy who is ecstatic to see his daddy safe and sound. Liv takes Fielding to the woods to stay with his even crazier friends Horace and Freddie. Being in the woods gives Liv even more freedom. They end up giving a passionate performance of their lovemaking to the voyeuristic duo . Seeing Liv’s imperfections and Fielding’s beauty tantalizes them, making them have hope for themselves. After a week of roughing it, Liv decides it’s safe to go back to the cabin.

The stalker has become desperate and he uses Little , another member of Liv’s team to get to Fielding. He snatches him from right out of their office building using the guise of visiting Little. Fielding is surprised he knows his kidnapper, he was a child star he worked with years ago. It doesn’t take the team long to find Fielding. Liv is spitting mad and wouldn’t hesitate to eliminate the stalker if Sheriff Camden Pelter didn’t hold him back. Liv takes his boy home and pampers him, knowing that he has to let him go soon. What does a man like Liv have to offer someone like Fielding? The answer comes to him from the matriarchs Lily and Peaches who impress upon him his true worth as a son , brother, friend and lover.

Within moments of coming to pick up Fielding, his parents pour on the insults about his weight gain.Liv doesn’t even hesitate to order his boy back to his side. Finally, he sees the truth , there is nobody else who can take care of Fielding like he can. He acknowledges that he loves his boy unconditionally and only he can provide for all of his boy’s needs. Fielding is ecstatic and can’t wait to continue his life with his daddy. For sure, there will definitely be a wedding put on by the matriarch.I give this my ratings of 4 – lose the underwear.

Only See You ( Only Colorado 2) by JD Chambers

Title: Only See You Word Count: 246 pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:“I might not be every gay man’s wet dream, but I always get a second look.”

Mal Copol knows who they are: Nonbinary. Awesome. Exhausted. They won’t change for anyone, but just once, they’d like to be the one with relationship potential, not the hookup. Also, not having to fight employers on who they are and how they present themselves would be nice. And while they’re at it, add not getting raised eyebrows at their high heels and tasteful makeup while discussing their latest rock-climbing trip to the wish list. Is that really too much to ask?

“Here I am at twenty-seven, embarking on life, version 2.0.”

Parker McWilliams is breaking free from the constraints of his former life and wife. He’s recapturing his zest to try new things and experience everything to the fullest, instead of the complacency he had fallen into over the past nine years. If one of those “new experiences” happens to be with a certain beautiful and intriguing nonbinary person, well, Parker’s just going to roll with it. Anything contrary to his past life is a good thing.

Mal and Parker keep surprising each other every time they meet. Despite their differences, neither has any interest in fighting their attraction. But when circumstances threaten to keep them apart, the couple must decide if that attraction is enough to overcome the obstacles they face.

My Review: Parker McWilliams has been trying to pick up the pieces of his life since he ended his marriage to his horrible Stepford wife Shelby. He packed everything and moved clear across to Colorado to move in with his gay cousin Zach. They have not always been the closest or seen eye to eye, but they both realize it was Shelby who was the problem all along. For the first time since he was 19, he is no longer under the shroud of Shelby’s control and influence. Parker has been meeting new friends and he has been reforming his self image all on his own. He is on his way to finding his true self.

On the day his cousin Zach moves out to live with his boyfriend Craig, Parker meets yet another new face. Mal Copol is one of Craig’s friends who is helping out. Mal identifies as non binary and uses ‘them, they’ pronouns. Parker is a bit confused at first and unknowingly offends Mal. Mal sets him ‘straight’ as they see that Parker is not trying to be offensive, he just doesn’t understand. Mal is intrigued by the sexy straight guy, but he knows it’s not meant to be so he sets his sights on Ben, Zach’s best friend and Craig’s current roommate.

When Mal and Ben’s date take a disastrous turn, Mal ends up taking home a drunken Ben. Mal is disappointed and a little bit upset that Ben would get so drunk. They call on Parker to help get Ben up the stairs. Parker willingly helps, but he is also upset on Mal’s behalf. He feels bad that his roommate made this sweet guy feel so crappy. Parker offers Mal coffee and one thing leads to another and before he knows it , he is pleasuring Mal. This is the most selfless and spontaneous that he’s ever been and it’s a great feeling. He is surprised at himself , since he has only ever been with one woman. Mal is blown away, they can’t belief that this sexy straight guy turns out to be slightly bent. They have never been with someone who treats them with so much care. However, they chalk it up as a one off experiment.

It isn’t until a dinner party a few weeks later when Mal sees Parker again. Mal is at an all time low after just losing yet another job due to his gender identity. Just being around Parker puts a spark in him. By the end of the night, they are getting hot and heavy in the backseat of Parker’s Volvo. For both of them, hottest sex ever…. until they are interrupted by a cop who gives them a warning. Parker feels like he’s living his teen years again in the best way, with all the fun ,spontaneity and frivolity that it brings.

Mal and Parker become even closer when they take a road trip for Parker’s father 60th birthday. Mal is on the journey as a distraction from Parker’s divorce. When they get there , Parker’s mother insistence on asking about Shelby drives him up the wall. However, it soon becomes clear that something is seriously wrong with her confused, muddled state. It hits Parker like a ton of bricks when his father explains that his mother has early onset Alzheimer’s. When they get back to their hotel room, Mal takes care of Parker helping him to relieve his tension. Their lovemaking is exquisite and something that is so so erotic and enlightening for Parker. There is laughter and playfulness, something they’ve both never experienced before. There is a definite connection between these two.

Their relationship progress nicely while they both realize they have a lot in common. They do lots of fun, outdoorsy activities and of course Mal takes lots of selfies. It is one of these pictures that would prove to be their downfall. Shelby sees one of the tags with Mal kissing Parker on the cheek and goes ballistic at one of their settlement meetings. Parker’s lawyer lets him know that she needs to check out Mal’s background so they can be on the offence. Mal is extremely upset about this as it doesn’t seem like Parker plans to fight for them. To top it off, Parker has been thinking to move back to help out with his mother’s illness. Mal is devastated, but he decides to let Parker be free to make his choices unencumbered.

Things are left unresolved between them and they both go their separate ways. Parker is trying to settle into a routine with his mom. In her lucid moments , they talk and she encourages him not to give up his life and go after Mal. It’s when Parker gets a chance to talk to her doctor who tells him that his mother could live for another 20 yrs while her condition slowly deteriorated. Parker realizes how selfish his father has been in manipulating and guilting him into becoming her permanent caregiver. When Mal has an accident while ice climbing, Parker rushes to their side.

Mal is ecstatic that Parker has come to be with them, but they’re not sure what it means. When Mal sees the vulnerability that shines through when Parker tells them that they mean the world, their heart leaps. Mal is overwhelmed with emotion that someone finally sees the true them. Parker accepts all of them and he is no longer afraid. He is ready to embrace his new identity and shout it to the world. Parker decides that for the new version of his life , he wants to live with Mal, loving him and exploring all the outdoorsy adventures they can find. With his mother’s blessing he gets her a living caregiver and move back to Colorado to his new loft with the love of his life, Mal. His divorce to the Stepford witch is final and he can embrace his freedom as Mal’s partner. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.
