Blurb:“I might not be every gay man’s wet dream, but I always get a second look.”

Mal Copol knows who they are: Nonbinary. Awesome. Exhausted. They won’t change for anyone, but just once, they’d like to be the one with relationship potential, not the hookup. Also, not having to fight employers on who they are and how they present themselves would be nice. And while they’re at it, add not getting raised eyebrows at their high heels and tasteful makeup while discussing their latest rock-climbing trip to the wish list. Is that really too much to ask?

“Here I am at twenty-seven, embarking on life, version 2.0.”

Parker McWilliams is breaking free from the constraints of his former life and wife. He’s recapturing his zest to try new things and experience everything to the fullest, instead of the complacency he had fallen into over the past nine years. If one of those “new experiences” happens to be with a certain beautiful and intriguing nonbinary person, well, Parker’s just going to roll with it. Anything contrary to his past life is a good thing.

Mal and Parker keep surprising each other every time they meet. Despite their differences, neither has any interest in fighting their attraction. But when circumstances threaten to keep them apart, the couple must decide if that attraction is enough to overcome the obstacles they face.

My Review: Parker McWilliams has been trying to pick up the pieces of his life since he ended his marriage to his horrible Stepford wife Shelby. He packed everything and moved clear across to Colorado to move in with his gay cousin Zach. They have not always been the closest or seen eye to eye, but they both realize it was Shelby who was the problem all along. For the first time since he was 19, he is no longer under the shroud of Shelby’s control and influence. Parker has been meeting new friends and he has been reforming his self image all on his own. He is on his way to finding his true self.

On the day his cousin Zach moves out to live with his boyfriend Craig, Parker meets yet another new face. Mal Copol is one of Craig’s friends who is helping out. Mal identifies as non binary and uses ‘them, they’ pronouns. Parker is a bit confused at first and unknowingly offends Mal. Mal sets him ‘straight’ as they see that Parker is not trying to be offensive, he just doesn’t understand. Mal is intrigued by the sexy straight guy, but he knows it’s not meant to be so he sets his sights on Ben, Zach’s best friend and Craig’s current roommate.

When Mal and Ben’s date take a disastrous turn, Mal ends up taking home a drunken Ben. Mal is disappointed and a little bit upset that Ben would get so drunk. They call on Parker to help get Ben up the stairs. Parker willingly helps, but he is also upset on Mal’s behalf. He feels bad that his roommate made this sweet guy feel so crappy. Parker offers Mal coffee and one thing leads to another and before he knows it , he is pleasuring Mal. This is the most selfless and spontaneous that he’s ever been and it’s a great feeling. He is surprised at himself , since he has only ever been with one woman. Mal is blown away, they can’t belief that this sexy straight guy turns out to be slightly bent. They have never been with someone who treats them with so much care. However, they chalk it up as a one off experiment.

It isn’t until a dinner party a few weeks later when Mal sees Parker again. Mal is at an all time low after just losing yet another job due to his gender identity. Just being around Parker puts a spark in him. By the end of the night, they are getting hot and heavy in the backseat of Parker’s Volvo. For both of them, hottest sex ever…. until they are interrupted by a cop who gives them a warning. Parker feels like he’s living his teen years again in the best way, with all the fun ,spontaneity and frivolity that it brings.

Mal and Parker become even closer when they take a road trip for Parker’s father 60th birthday. Mal is on the journey as a distraction from Parker’s divorce. When they get there , Parker’s mother insistence on asking about Shelby drives him up the wall. However, it soon becomes clear that something is seriously wrong with her confused, muddled state. It hits Parker like a ton of bricks when his father explains that his mother has early onset Alzheimer’s. When they get back to their hotel room, Mal takes care of Parker helping him to relieve his tension. Their lovemaking is exquisite and something that is so so erotic and enlightening for Parker. There is laughter and playfulness, something they’ve both never experienced before. There is a definite connection between these two.

Their relationship progress nicely while they both realize they have a lot in common. They do lots of fun, outdoorsy activities and of course Mal takes lots of selfies. It is one of these pictures that would prove to be their downfall. Shelby sees one of the tags with Mal kissing Parker on the cheek and goes ballistic at one of their settlement meetings. Parker’s lawyer lets him know that she needs to check out Mal’s background so they can be on the offence. Mal is extremely upset about this as it doesn’t seem like Parker plans to fight for them. To top it off, Parker has been thinking to move back to help out with his mother’s illness. Mal is devastated, but he decides to let Parker be free to make his choices unencumbered.

Things are left unresolved between them and they both go their separate ways. Parker is trying to settle into a routine with his mom. In her lucid moments , they talk and she encourages him not to give up his life and go after Mal. It’s when Parker gets a chance to talk to her doctor who tells him that his mother could live for another 20 yrs while her condition slowly deteriorated. Parker realizes how selfish his father has been in manipulating and guilting him into becoming her permanent caregiver. When Mal has an accident while ice climbing, Parker rushes to their side.

Mal is ecstatic that Parker has come to be with them, but they’re not sure what it means. When Mal sees the vulnerability that shines through when Parker tells them that they mean the world, their heart leaps. Mal is overwhelmed with emotion that someone finally sees the true them. Parker accepts all of them and he is no longer afraid. He is ready to embrace his new identity and shout it to the world. Parker decides that for the new version of his life , he wants to live with Mal, loving him and exploring all the outdoorsy adventures they can find. With his mother’s blessing he gets her a living caregiver and move back to Colorado to his new loft with the love of his life, Mal. His divorce to the Stepford witch is final and he can embrace his freedom as Mal’s partner. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.

Only With You ( Only Colorado 1) by JD Chambers

Title: Only With You Word Count:248 pgs
Genre: Contemporary Gay Romance

Blurb:“I guess if the worst thing I’m doomed to in life is mediocre sex, my life isn’t too bad.”

Self-starter and business analyst Zach Keller is living his dream life. He spends his days working from home in his favorite Tolkien t-shirts and pajamas while mothering his best friend-slash-roommate. The fact that his sex life is a bust and his love life is nonexistent? Unimportant. After his college boyfriend berated him for his unconventional desires, Zach doesn’t plan on sharing that part of himself ever again, anyway.

“I’m tired of feeling like I missed out on something by not going to college.”

Craig Pela isn’t lonely. He has tons of friends and weekends packed with activity. He hasn’t needed anyone since he left home at eighteen and never looked back. But everyone around him is moving forward in life, while he still works the same retail job at the same video game store, and it’s making him question his life choices. After all, he doesn’t want to be the loser still playing video games at fifty, does he?

As their relationship develops, Zach’s shy nature melts away to reveal an irrepressible geek that charms the pants off Craig. And Craig’s kind patience and ability to match him obscure quote for quote leaves Zach wondering if he’s finally met the man he can be his true self with. After all, how can someone else love you when you keep a part of yourself hidden?

My Review: From the moment Craig lays eyes on the quirky little nerd with curly hair , he is intrigued. When the guy opens his mouth and word vomit comes out ,he is even more endearing. Craig soon finds out that the guy Zach is his coworker Ben’s roommate. Craig is a bit disappointed when he thinks Zach might be nervous, because he has a crush on Ben. Their second meeting doesn’t go very well, when Craig’s smart mouth gets him in trouble for teasing Zach. Craig pleads with Ben to allow him to apologize to Zach by setting up a lunch date for them.

Craig sees a totally different side of Zach with the way he opens up around his best friend Ben. It is now Craig’s mission in life to get Zach to respond to him in that same carefree manner. Especially, when he realizes that Zach may be nervous because of him. Surprisingly, even with all the social awkwardness and overthinking on Zach’s part, they hit it off really well. They end their first date with a hot frottage session, but Zach ends up running off not knowing how to act after the hot sex. Craig is slightly confused , but decides to pursue Zach because he believes there is a connection between them.

They are getting on really well and Craig knows he is starting to have feelings for Zach. Although Craig is seen as this sexy pierced Adonis, he is plagued by his own insecurities. He struggles with the idea that he may not be good enough. Craig feels like he has no prospects since he just works at the video game store and have no college education. Zach also has his own insecurities that he will be rejected for his true self. Zach is a freak in bed, he gets off on being called a slut and being used thoroughly. He fantasize about gangbangs and random strangers using his body while his boyfriend watches. He’s always hid this part of himself, because his last boyfriend was totally disgusted when he found out.

In the heat of passion, Zach uncontrollably lets his freak flag fly high. Craig is so turned on watching his sweet shy boyfriend, turn into such a little slut and he certainly enjoys the ride. The only problem is when he starts processing what Zach wants, he knows he is not interested in an open relationship. When Zach sees that Craig is ignoring him, he is hurt but figures that it was inevitable. Craig is torn by his decision, because he really misses Zach. His friend Mal encourages him to talk it through with Zach.

Zach is surprised when Craig texts him a few days later to meet up. Craig apologizes for being a dick and they talk about the kind of relationship they do want. The way Zach explains it becomes clear that he doesn’t want an open relationship. He just needs to feel wanted and for his boyfriend to be proud to be with him. Craig acknowledges that he is not averse to the idea of Zach living out his fantasy if he is there by his side. Craig gets a thrill at being in control of Zach’s pleasure. He sets up a trip to a gloryhole where he watches his boy’s blissful face as he pleasures a stranger. Craig is on a high hearing the utter satisfaction the man feels at his lover’s mouth. As slutty as Zach acts, Craig also sees a vulnerability in the way he waits to see if he will be rejected. Craig reassures him as they leave and show him how precious he finds him.

They continue to forge their relationship and get to know each other better both in and out of bed. However, there are still facets of Craig’s life and family history that Zach knows nothing about. When Zach is tasked to host an obnoxious ‘baby announcement’ party for his overly pretentious relatives, everything goes to shit. Craig is snubbed by Zach’s mother and father who only tolerates Zach being gay. For the first time , Zach stands up for himself and gives his mother a proper dressing down for her being ungrateful and her ungracious manner in dealing with his boyfriend. As soon as they leave Zach gets a call saying that the mother to be Shelby has been rushed to the hospital where she has a miscarriage. When he turns up, Zach is repudiated for being gay and his family blames his ‘sinful’ sexual orientation as the bad omen that resulted in the miscarriage. Craig and his best friend Ben are left to pick up the pieces as their words shatter Zach’s heart.

Craig feels like his presence has caused this rift with Zach and his family. He takes himself out of the picture, thinking that Zach should find someone who has more of an educational background to match his. On the other hand, Zach believes that his lover has left him, because of his crazy homophobic family and he doesn’t blame him. When Zach sees Craig out on the town with a redhead, he believes he has moved on. Zach runs away with his heart broken in two. Seeing Zach again makes Craig acknowledges how much he missed his sweet shy boyfriend. The redhead Kieran encourages Craig to go after the man he clearly loves. Craig knows it’s going to take some grand gesture for their reconciliation. He forms an elaborate plan and by the end of it truly opens up to Zach about his own family drama. Zach finally sees that all Craig is used to is being rejected by the people he loves. Zach plans to change those negative feelings and shows Craig how treasured he is. Craig now sees what he brings to the table. The fact that he accepts Zach for who he truly is , makes up for all he thinks he lacks.

They are settling as a couple, knowing that their trust and love for each other is their strongest bond. For his birthday, Zach gets an orgasmic treat from Craig. Craig takes the time to set up an orgy where Zach can really indulge in his fantasies. Zach is in heaven taking 4 men including Craig. He knows his loving partner will take care of him and he trusts his choices implicitly. He can finally be the cumslut, he has always dreamed of being. By the time he is done, he is in a blissful stupor. I give this my ratings of 4- lose the underwear.
